For those of you who adopted out of state and had to wait an extended period of time in that state (5-14 days) what did you do about....
The first doctors appointment?
Car seat?
Where did you stay?
Where did the baby sleep?
Did you have bottles with you and diapers or did you purchase them there?
Did you find a local pediatrician for when you came home?
I just had one friend who had a baby last week posting that the first doctor appointment is today, so that got me thinking. I have another friend who just brought home her second adopted child last week and I have made plans to meet the LO, so I will ask her as well, but just curious about what you all did.

Re: Questions on first few days
Our situation was a bit complicated and we were out of state 6 weeks- this is not the norm so I don't mean to freak you out. Here is what we did:
The first doctors appointment? Pediatrician who saw him in hospital agreed to see him for first appt (we ended up going 3x actually)Car seat? We drove (across country) so brought our car seatWhere did you stay? First we were at an extended stay hotel but then actually moved to a corporate apartment Where did the baby sleep? Pack and Play Bassinet that we also broughtDid you have bottles with you and diapers or did you purchase them there? I had a few bottles and diapers but bought more when we were thereDid you find a local pediatrician for when you came home? I did this before DS was born and called when I knew we'd be home to set up the 1st appt.
We had to stay for 9 days
Dr's appt: We asked the nurse at the hospital and she recommended a couple local pediatricians, We called the one she most recommended and explained the situation. They were really nice and happy to see us
Car seat: We were able to drive so we just took it with us in the car. I had looked into flying and most airlines will let you check it even if you don't have a baby if you tell them
Where we stayed: In 3 different hotels. There was a big bollege football game going on so we had to leave the first hotel for the weekend and find one about 40 min away. The third one we stayed in the longest and that was the week after he was born so we knew he'd be with us. So that was an extended stay, it had a seperate bedroom and a kitchen. I would definitely recommend something like that. With preparing bottles and eating in so much, the kitchen was a must
Where baby slept: We took a pack-n-play and planned for him to sleep in that, but he hated it. We also had a travel swing and that's what he slpet in the whole time. It was a life saver
We brought bottles with us because we already had them but bought diapers and formula there. The hospital gave us some diapers and formulas
After we got matched, we found a local pedi that we liked. We met with her once and told her the due date and when we expected to be home. After he was born we called and made the appointment for when we got home. He was about 2 weeks old
