NBR Paper towel help

First, unrelated, I need a freaking massage. Holding a sick baby ALL day and night including naps HURTS.

Now that I got that out...... I think I pay the Bounty paper Towel mans salary. I use the sink SO much and since we have a deep sink and high faucet water is always all over the counter. It's black granite and the water always bothers me/looks messy. I have tons of dish rags but never use them because they absorb NADA!

Recommend your bounty picked upper-like dish rags!!!!!!!! TIA

Re: NBR Paper towel help

  • We do use dish rags but we use them instead of sponges.

Honestly I prefer using paper towels for cleaning up messes/spills/extra water. I use a recycled brand from Costco.
I dont use them bc they are recycled and I want to be green I started using them bc they were much cheaper than the other brands. But now that I have been using them, I really really like them. I was sad when I was shopping Sunday and they were out of stock. They work very well.

I'll have to check them out when we go to costco this weekend. Thanks. I just feel like I use waaaaaaaay too much. Maybe I should invent a soak-worthy dish towel.

I use paper towels way too much I am sure. LOL. They are select a size and I think thats why I dont blow thru them. Bc sometimes you need a little one and then if you dont then grab two...
They have like a green/yellow nature scene or something on the front of the wrapper.

I am a huge select-a-size fan. I am so disappointed when they only have full sheets. Most times a half does the trick.

  • we went mostly paperless in our kitchen 2 years ago.  I use maybe 4 lg rolls of bounty select a size per year.

I use the burp cloth/wash cloths from IKEA for little cleanups.  The bundle is cheap so if they get destroyed I dont care.  I also have a bunch of bar mops from BBB.  They absorb great too.  We dont use softener or dryer sheets so the towels stay absorbent.  I keep an old gallon icecream bucket under the sink for stashing the dirties.

  • What we did is stock up on Sham Wows and put snaps on them and rolled it onto a wooden dowell. So basically its the same set up as paper towels but you just un snap them instead of tear them and you keep it instead of throw it away :p They work pretty great.

  • I've been seriously considering trying something like this. There are a lot of other style options on etsy.

  • If you're having trouble with getting your dish towels to absorb anything, you might want to try some terry bar towels. They sell them pretty cheap at Walmart and Target. They're really soft and absorbent.

  • I have to admit that Sham Wows are pretty awesome.  We use ours for a lot of things!
