Natural Birth

Chilbirth and Sexuality

Hi all, I just wanted to share a really interesting article on childbirth and sexuality (My Bradley instructor shared it on her FB page). I had a wonderful natural birth in a hospital with my DD, I wouldn't call it orgasmic, but it was essentially painless (intense yes). We are trying to conceive #2 right now, and planning a home-birth, and maybe I am crazy, but I am really looking forward to experiencing childbirth again. Maybe it will be orgasmic?! Ha,unlikely, but one can dream. Has anyone read Orgasmic Birth? I am thinking of reading it this pregnancy.

Here is the article:

  • I have never read it but I have read "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" and she does write about orgasmic birth.

I love Ina May, I read this book several times during my first pregnancy.

  • This is an interesting topic.  As a FTM I have no personal experience on this but I did read about it in Ina Mays book and found it interesting.  Thanks for posting the article!

    ^ ditto all this.

Cool article! I am 22 and a First timer at pregnancy/upcoming birth. I LOVED Ina Mays book, and am REALLY hoping to be able to share childbirth in an intimate way with my hubby. However, I must say that I am terribly shy about knowing how to communicate  this properly with our midwives. It makes sense to me, but will they think i'm a creep if I ask Hubby for nipple stimulation (per example)? Or want to make out kissing with him mid labour?

  • Has anyone had experience with embracing their sexuality through childbirth for relaxation/intimacy and pain relief? In what ways? If not, do you plan to?
