Hi Ladies,
I am a FTM so I just have a quick question. How many days overdue were you when a Dr recommended a biophysical profile or non stress test? I have an appointment tomorrow (I'll be 3 days overdue) and I am wondering if this is a normal test to be asking about at this time. I have only had one ultrasound the entire pregnancy at 20 weeks for the A/S. Also, I am considering asking her to sweep my membranes. Last Tuesday I was 2 cm, 80% effaced, and -2 station.
Thanks!
Re: How far overdue when they recommend a biophysical profile or non stress test?
Im exactly 41 weeks, and they did the first NST today. I passed the NST, so they didnt do a Biophysical, but I am having a fluid ultrasound tomorrow (should have been done today too, but someone dropped the ball). I would think that you would definitely discuss it at your appointment.
My dr didnt mention sweeping of my membranes, but my doula suggested not doing it. She feels it just prolongs labor-- but who knows?
I think every dr is different....My due date was yesterday, and she told me to get a non-stress test and ultrasound . I went to the ns test yesterday, and then the ultrasound today. In the ultrasound , they actually "rated the baby based on an 8 point system (I have no clue about this I am a ftm as well) and the dr called me and told me how much the baby weighs and that I need to get a non-stress test every 3 days. She said after the due date that it is standard to do this.
Good luck with your little one !!
