2nd Trimester

I went to a baby shower today....

..and I realized how glad I am that I decided not to have one with this pg. She received SO many things that she'll never use (but of coarse I'd never tell her that). Like 457 size 0-3 outfits(o.k. not that many, but she did get a lot), about 15 blankets, 4 snowsuits, 8 or more picture frames/photo albums, and so many other things that I know will go unused. I mean, seriously...what is she going to do with 4 snow suits? Her baby is due in February, she probably wont even wear one. lol.

And the kicker......The baby's name is Clementine.....Blah!

  • clementine, really?

heres my question...did she register for that stuff or did people just give her crap that she didn't ask for?

  • her name makes me want an orange. mmmmmmm. i hope she got gift receipts!
  • She didnt register. At least, there wasnt one in my invite. For that reason, I bought her diapers, wipes, and baby bath items. I didnt go anywhere near clothing or blankets. I knew with no registry, people would go stir crazy on clothes..and for some reason, no one thinks the baby will ever grow beyond 3 months. lol

I am sure she will regift. She's an enviornmental major, and recycles and reuses EVERYTHING. Her baby shower was very "green". It was kinda neat, how earth friendly it was...but, still...the name Clementine blows my mind. lol. Taya is the middle name.

  • people register for a reason!! i will never understand why people just don't shop off the registry!!
  • If she didn't register, that is why she ended up with a bunch of useless stuff and 4 snowsuits.  What baby wears a snowsuit????

  • Thats crazy!!?

?I don't get the snowsuit thing...my SIL, who has 3 kids of her own, gave my DD a snowsuit when she was 5 weeks old. ?It was a size 0-3. ?The kicker, we lived in Arizona at the time.

  • Only if you live in Alaska, or somewhere else where you have crazy cold and long winters, do you need a snow suit for your baby and you really only need one.

I've been working seasonally at BRU and often am at the registry desk, you would not believe the amount of people who come and have registry printed off for a shower they are attending and then make comments like "Oh, I don't like that _____, I'm not getting that" or "I think I'll just pick something out myself" and then I see them walk back by with clothes or a blanket. So much for the registry, right?

  • Why have a shower with no registry?  The snowsuits are funny...
  • When I hear Clementine I always think of the blonde from Reno 911!

Deputy Clementine Johnson: [Deputy Johnson is administering a dancing sobriety test] Step, bump, step, bump-bump! 5,6,7,8...
Deputy S. Jones: You know what would be good is if you did a hitch kick right here
    [suspect adds his own choreography]
Deputy S. Jones: and a barrel roll here and then woohoo!
Deputy Clementine Johnson: Wow! That's great. Are you a dancer?
Deputy S. Jones: No! I'm just drunk.
Deputy Clementine Johnson: Gotcha! You're going to jail.

  • I registered for a snow suit, haha!  And, I live in a climate that never snows... but we're going to Tahoe for a week when the baby will be about a month old so I figure it might come in handy... at least for a mandatory baby-sitting-in-the-snow-for-the-first-time picture.

  • Like a snowsuit snowsuit? with the vinyl-y stuff? Or just like a warm pram/bunting type thing? Cuz I DEFINITELY want a warm suit type thing.. but not necessarily an actual water resistant snowsuit.. My baby is due in early march (most likely will be born late feb)... and I am planning on her needing that warm suit for a good 2 months. It does not get warm here til May.
