Couldn't determine hands/feet in my a/s...are they missing?!

I just had this done yesterday morning. We found out we are having a little girl and we are very excited!!!

Around lunchtime, I had to take my husband into the doctor to get ten stitches in his leg (ouchy). The same doctor is my OB doc. He's pretty much the best doctor EVER!! He had a nurse bring in my a/s results.

He said the anatomy scan looked great but we will have to do another ultrasound in about 6-8 weeks because they couldn't determine the hands or feet. He did say it was due to position, and he didn't seem concerned - so I shouldn't be concerned, right?

NOW I'M FREAKING OUT!

I watched the entire a/s on a big screen. I could see her little butt cheeks, nose, face, spine, legs, arms, etc.

I'm probably being irrational thinking maybe she doesn't have any hands or feet, but can't help but worry...

Anyone have this happen? I've heard of them not being able to tell a couple the sex of the baby - but I would think if we could see everything else - shouldn't the hands and feet be pretty easy to see????

I'm sure everything is ok and the tech just didn't realize she/he didn't get those measurements. Concentrate on getting the second u/s!

If it makes you feel better, my brother was breech and when they went to do the last-minute u/s, they told my mom they couldn't find his head. Yea, that would be because they were looking at his butt...

I had to go back for a second a/s because they couldn't get a picture of her face. The same thing happened the second time but the tech said not to worry it's just the position she was in. My OB said not to worry either that everything else looked fine. I am sure your LO is fine and on your next u/s you will see everything!

I've not heard of this specific issue, but I would think that if your OB thought it was a serious deformity issue they would want to do a follow up sooner than 6-8 weeks. I would think everything is fine.

I couldn't find the arms on my u/s but since no one said anything, I am to think it's ok. I know they are there but I can't see them.

At one of mine they couldn't see the stomach - it doesn't mean it's not there! They were able to find it at a follow-up, which was scheduled for about 3-4 weeks later.

My one u/s tech was awesome and said that if the dr there (had to go to a different office in the same medical group) was really concerned about the images, they would have had a conversation with me and DH about it before I even left the office. Although I don't think she was supposed to tell me even that much!

I had to go back for a second three weeks later for views of the brain because he is a wiggler and would not sit still. I would not worry about it, she probably was moving around or in a bad position.

We had to look and look and look for my LO's feet. He stayed with his feet towards my back and refused to turn. He eventually turned but it took me being sick at the doctors office and drinking a coke for him to get caffeine and move.

We also had a second u/s at 24 weeks, because the tech couldn't get all the pictures of her heart. I was a little freaked, but my Doc wasn't, and of course all of her heart was there! Try to take it easy!

i had to go in for multiple follow up scans because DD would hide half her heart, they could never get all the chambers at once. she was all about showing the goods though.
