Gaining weight

So, I told myself I would be good and not go crazy and eat forever, But I did. I was about 5 pounds heavier than usual when I found out I was pregnant, but now it's 5 more! I'm wearing a snap dress today and my tummy keeps poking out of it...

Ughhh not looking forward to post-baby losing weight!

Re: Gaining weight

  • The good news is that some of it is probably just bloat, and quite a bit of the weight usually comes off very quickly PP. I'm with you, though. I got frustrated today wearing capris that used to fit well. I emphasize "used to." I switched to a skirt with an elastic band, and now I'm much comfier. I have no idea whether I've gained anything and don't really care, to be honest. I just don't like feeling like my clothes don't fit.

The good news is that some of it is probably just bloat,

I had major bloat and constipation my first pg - and I was literally up 7 lbs at my first weigh-in at 5 weeks.  It doesn't seem like a lot, but I had had my annual visit 3 weeks prior, so it was A LOT to my doc.

By my second appointment, I was down 6 of the 7 lbs and the bloat was almost gone.

Don't stress about the weight gain - just eat healthy and try to exercise or at least keep active.  It will help immensely.  I failed to keep active last time and I'm kicking myself for it.

  • Ugh, I know how you feel! I've gained about 4 pounds and already some of my clothes don't fit. I'm really not digging this, it's not that I mind gaining weight because I knew this would happen, but not having a baby bump to show for it yet makes the weight seem useless Sad

  • I *so* feel you on the clothes not fitting thing.  Are you super bloated?  I am almost entirely in maternity dresses, which is pathetic (but oh, so comfy!).  I was shocked at my doctor's appointment the other day that I have actually lost weight - I LOOK like I have gained at least ten pounds.
  • I haven't lost all my weight from my previous pregnancy, partially because I wanted to get pregnant again, so why lose weight if I will gain it all back very soon. Last pregnancy I only gained 20lbs, but I "kept" 10 of it. Hoping I won't gain too much this time as I have 10+ to start with.

Ah! Good - I'm not the only one who kept a few (ok, 8) pounds as a souvenier... ugh.

I was too lazy to lose it! I actually lost 5 of them after DS1 was born, but gained it back during maternity leave, by sitting on my ass in the couch all day.

  • This is my first and I am so bloated.  I have been wearing leggings but they cut into my bloat.  I got some leggings at target (their Be brand) and I doubt I'll want to wear real leggings again!  I can get away with the leggings and long shirts for a few weeks maybe.

  • The beer belly looking bloat phase is the worst in my mind.  You just feel fat. When the tummy starts to stick out more, and get "harder" then it feels more pregnant than fat. I'm looking forward to that stage

  • Oh my goodness.  I just threw my scale in the closet this morning for that reason.  I can gain or lose 8 pounds in a DAY regardless of what I eat and drink!  Stupid bloat.  I'm not even going to worry about how much I gain this trimester.  As long as I'm making healthy choices, I figure I'll be fine.  I'll drag that scale out again when my cravings kick in to keep myself in check!

If it makes you feel better though, with #1 I lost 25 of the 30 pounds I gained within the first week!

  • I've actually lost weight from this awful morning sickness, but I look like I've gained 10 pounds (or more, bleh). And, my boobs are enormous so they barely fit into anything I own. I didn't think I'd need new clothes this quickly!!

Im with you!!!  Im only 5 foot tall and a gymnast.  Being a gymnast  i have big thighs and arms and i def have to work out to keep my body tone.  Since i got preggo i have not been able to do any workouts except walking bc i have been sick and boobs hurt.  But the baby has no where to go bc of my short torso... and I have had to buy new shorts the next size up bc it hurts to button my regular shorts and its uncomfortable.  I pray im not a HUGE pregnant person but I have a feeling with my body type I dont have much say in it.  I think I will be in maternity clothes by august and thats my 3rd month.

  • I gained 85 pounds with my first pregnancy. It took about a year to lose it all. I then lost another 30 on top of that. Since the weight loss, I put 30 back on and I started this pregnancy right where I was when I got pregnant last time (overweight..a size 12-14).

I have gained 9 freaking pounds so far! It sucks, but it's my own fault because I feel nauseous all the time and only carbs seem to help. It seems like I'm going to be working hard again to get the weight off after this one is born.
