  Cool mist. Warm mist means the machine gets very hot and is dangerous for small children.

  But for my babies i like warm mist because it is freezing here and the cool mist really creates a cool mist in their room.

  Cool mist is better for congested babies.  Warm mist is good for when they have a really barky cough/croup.  We use cool mist most of the time b/c my boys are forever cngested.
