Hi! I'm new to this board so sorry if this has been posted recently - I searched in the posts and didn't find anything so hope not! I'm due in October and have a 14 month old so they will be about 18 months apart. I'm looking at both the City Select and City Mini and wondering if you have it, why you went with that one and if you would do it again.
Some of the things I'm wondering about are:
- Do the seats both recline?
- Enough room for tall toddlers? Want this to last til they outgrow using strollers.
- Did you buy the carseat attachment & how did it fold up with it on there?
- When folding the stroller do you have to remove anything or can you just fold it without doing anything and then does it lock once folded or no?
- I know I'm going to want cupholders, snack trays for the kids - is that a pain that they're sold separately or do they work ok?
- Also - I know the double fits through doorways but what about out at the mall or other places - have you had issues with the size at all where a tandem like the Select would be better?
- What are the negatives?
Thanks so much!!! I REALLY appreciate any insight you have - it's such a big decision and it seems really hard to find this information online! I've looked at them both in the store but it's still hard to know how they actually perform...

Re: Baby Jogger City Select/Mini Double strollers - worth it?
I have both a love them each for different reasons.
The city select is great when you have a baby and a toddler. It can be a single, double, single + glider board, and seats can be arranged in many directions. With two toddlers I couldn't really use it on vacation, both seats only recline if facing you which is fine unless your toddler is awake (trying to go to sleep) and the baby is asleep and your toddler is having a tantrum and starts to kick the baby's seat! We had this happen at Disneyland.... Also with two toddlers the one sitting in the back often kicks the one sitting in the front or grabs their hair. I still use this one a lot and an ever day use.
I got the mini elite for more rugged terrain or when going to amusement parks. I lot that it came with a very nice parent console, I can still use the glider board, the handlebar can be adjusted, they both can lay flat and be "like in a cave" during a nap and folds so easy. My cons..... its huge and heavy. it fits through a standard doorframe but with less than a centimeter to spare. It takes up my entire trunk, the kids still need to sit up even when its all the way up, they can still reach over and grab the other ones snack, kick each other, or hit if they want to (but not as easy as the city select)
We have the city select. Ds1 and ds2 are 15mths apart.
Do the seats both recline? yes but they both have to be facing the same direction - either towards you or away from you. We never really reclined ds1 in it though.
Enough room for tall toddlers? Want this to last til they outgrow using strollers. DS1 will ride in it and he's 40inches tall. He props his legs up. I only use it for indoor stuff and now he usually walks since he just turned 3. Plus i'm about to have to use it for ds2 and ds3 so ds1 has to walk. I use our double bob for the zoo or disney world.
Did you buy the carseat attachment & how did it fold up with it on there? Yes we have it but it was kindof a waste for us since ds2 hated the infant seat. We used the bassinett a lot more then the carseat attachment.
When folding the stroller do you have to remove anything or can you just fold it without doing anything and then does it lock once folded or no? You can fold it with one seat attached but it has to be facing out. For me it's just easier to take both seats off and fold it. It's super easy to get the seats in and off plus hold it. It does lock once folder.
I know I'm going to want cupholders, snack trays for the kids - is that a pain that they're sold separately or do they work ok? I was always annoyed with their cup holder until I found this one: https://www.amazon.com/Stroll-Air-Stroller-Organizer-Console-Black/dp/B001LLG8TE/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1340109284&sr=8-8&keywords=city+select+cup+holder Someone on here recommended it once and its the best one out there. I highly recommend it. We didn't get the kids snack trays. I don't see them as being worth it. My boys use snack cups in the stroller.
Also - I know the double fits through doorways but what about out at the mall or other places - have you had issues with the size at all where a tandem like the Select would be better? My double bob fits through doorways so I'm sure the city mini will. The city select is harder to push then my double bob b/c of the weight of ds1
What are the negatives? I don't have any for the city select. I love that it's a single or double and that I don't have to push around a double when ds1 wanted to walk. It was easier to me plus the basket on the city select is huge.
Do the seats both recline? Yes
Did you buy the carseat attachment - No. Seemed too annoying from watching You tube video, and it doesn't fold easily. Since both seats fully recline anyway, you really don't need to put baby in carseat.
