So my munchin is 4 1/2 weeks old born at 32 weeks. We just left NICU on Saturday and he is now home. When did You takE baby out of house? I know he has a week immune system, but I need to run errands, go to the grocery store, etc which is hard when hubby works 12 to 14 hour days shim staying while I go is hard to coordinate. Just curious. I don't want him to get sick but I also have a 3 year old at home too.
Re: Taking baby out
We started taking him out within a few days of having him home... first just to the pediatrician, then to church (but no church nursery), and in the couple of months since then, to a few minimally-crowded places.
He's been fine; no signs of any sickness whatsoever. He is also unvaccinated, but even so, his ped encouraged us to start taking him out (within reason -- no large crowds indoors, no sick children etc.) to help build his immune system.
Just take the usual precautions... wash your hands well during and after outings; don't let anyone touch baby; breast-feed as much as you're able so your LO gets antibodies against anything you're exposed to; and consider vitamin D drops (we're using fermented cod liver oil instead which is naturally high in vitamin D).
You can ask your pedi to be sure but if you didn't get any restrictions from your Neos at discharge, you can probably take him out if you use common sense. Like grocery shop in the middle of the day (Wednesdays are usually the slowest days in grocery stores), keep him covered in crowded places, or wear him so its easy to limit people touching him.

Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
Can you ask a family to come over and take care of little one until baby is a little bit older? If you can't then I suggest, wearing baby, so that way, nobody touches them. Try going to grocery store off peak hours.
