May 2012 Moms

I am NOT...

leaving LO overnight with ANYONE... until she is at least a year old!

DH snores through everything (including screams... and her bassinet is right next to our bed), and his mother was here last week and never woke up once, even though DD was crying loudly.  My mother is nervous, so she'd wake up... except that she has some hearing loss and actually wouldn't be able to hear her...

I usually wake up everytime she stirs even the slightest little bit...maybe all that pregnancy insomnia was good for something after all!

So I guess it's me and DD for the next year or so... not that I'm complaining Stick out tongue

Re: I am NOT...

  • Ditto! Although other ppl wake up when he cries, I'm not letting anyone have him ovn until after at least a year, preferably longer. I'm so SIDS paranoid, I also made the choice to not return to work until the peak had passed at 4mos. If I lose my job, well there are fat worse things than collecting unemployment while staying home with baby! (My work is in high demand)

  • Ditto the SIDS paranoia!  MIL thinks the no blankets rule is silly because her great-nephew "always sleeps with a blanket ON his head and is fine...."  (as in literally covering his face!) augh!

Other rules I had to enforce include sleeping on back and wiping front to back during diaper changes...

  • I won't until 6 months, but I think after that I will be dying to have a quite night together with my husband!

I don't get up with every stir with my LO because I have realized if I try to feed her too early she wont' eat good and is up for real not too long later.

  • I have no plans on going away or anything so it probably won't be an issue but I would totally trust my mother to watch her overnight. I'd also trust my mother in law, brother and three of my sister-in-laws. All of these people are completely capable and love my girl so much.

I really can't blame you for not wanting to leave your LO!  Wow, you would think a grown woman would know to wipe front to back, at least.

I have no plans to leave my LO any time soon.  The week after he was born I thought we might be ready to leave him overnight with MIL for our anniversary at the end of June, but I quickly realized that I wouldn't be able to handle it.  DH made the mistake of mentioning it to his mother anyway, and she will NOT leave me alone about babysitting him overnight now.  She's like a circling vulture about it - will not let it go.  Hey, at least I know I have a babysitter if I need one, right?

  • I dont like to until six months but that's more for me than for lo. I do trust my best friend, my mom, mil, and sil completely with my kids. All are also mothers of three and love my kids so I know they can handle it.
