VBAC

Breech again :(

Just went to my 36 week appointment and this baby is breech just like big sister.  I can't even seem to process my emotions yet.  I hate that it looks like I might not even get to attempt my VBAC because of the baby's position.  I know that this one could still turn but it's in almost the same position as DD (which was the reason for my first c/s).  Something in my gut just tells me that this one isn't going to turn and that it must have something to do with my uterus.

Any words of wisdom?  I know that a healthy baby is most important but I'm so disappointed.  My c/s itself was a fine experience - I just had a rough recovery and wanted so desperately to try and avoid that.

  • Have you considered seeing a prenatal chiropractor?  It would be worth a shot at getting the baby to turn IMO.  ICPA is a board that trains/certifies chiros to work with pregnant women, so you might check their website to locate one near you.  I saw one with DS and he turned after one adjustment.  I went for weekly adjustments after that and he stayed head down.  I just had my first adjustment with this pregnancy, so I'm hopeful for the same results!  GL and HTH!

  • This sounds kinda like me.  My first two babies were breech until 36 & 37wks (luckily they flipped & I could deliver vaginally), and my third was still breech at 38.5wks even after a ECV, so I ended up with a c/s.  This one is currently breech as well.  I think it is just the shape of my body/uterus that keeps my babies in the breech position for so long.  I am hoping that I will get to try for a VBAC this time around, but I am almost expecting her to remain breech like her siblings.  :(

I hope your baby flips for you still!  Have your considered attempting a version?

  • This was the cause of my first c/s too, now I am nervous, baby#2 will be breach too... I would try the version and see if they can flip baby, it is little rough, but totally worth it if it works. I don't get why they won't even try todeliver breech. My mom is a midwife and she delivers breech babies when they happen. My grandmother delivered my dad breech, its just what was done. These days, seems c/s is everyone's preference....annoying!!

Look into Moxibustion.  Both my OB and midwife told me its the only that that has actually been proven effective in turning babies (this was after my failed version)  I've heard really good things about accupunture and chiropractors too

D was breech too but my chiropractor got her to turn.  We had a C-section for a totally different reason.  You still have hope... don't lose faith.  The spinning babies is a great site too.  I remember the day D turned... it was very uncomfortable & I was getting dressed for work.  Scared the crap out of me!  But she is hear and healthy & was head down ready to great the world.
