Induction with cervidil?

Has anyone gone into an induction with a completely unripe cervix and had success? I was only a fingertip dilated, maybe 50% effaced and still pretty posterior last week. I go back to the doc tomorrow and then will. Heck into the hospital tomorrow night to be induced.  This is my second induction and I'm incredibly nervous about it because I was almost at 3 cm with my first induction, needed no cervidil and very little pitocin before our sweet son pretty much crawled out on his own without tearing me at all. I know it can't possibly be that easy again but I was really hoping to have another relatively easy delivery

  • I just popped over to reminisce about where I was a year ago :-)

You sound like you are right where I was. Cervidil worked wonders for me. Started my contractions and I didn't need any pitocin. I hope your labor and delivery go smoothly.

  • I agree with PP... sometimes Cervadil can cause you to go in to natural labor, which all things considered might be good right? The Cervadil is used to help your cervix efface...which in turn should help dilate you too! Good luck!

  • I was induced starting with cervadil. I wasn't dilated but after 12 hours on it I was 1cm and contractions had started. Unfortunately after 14 hours on pitocin I stopped progressing, but I'm sure it was me, not the meds. When my mom went into labor with me she also stopped progressing. So I guess it runs in the family.

  • I had a successful cervidil and pitocin delivery.  12 hours of cervidil then another 15 hours on pitocin before my little girl came out.
