Tell me about your favorite carrier for nursing

I think if I'm going to make nursing #2 work with a toddler, I need to figure this out and never did/had to with my first.

We have a Beco Gemini - is that an an option?

I hear slings are the thing for nursing, true?

Although not specifically a carrier, has anyone tried a Koalakin?

Re: Tell me about your favorite carrier for nursing

  • I have  Beco Butterfly, and nursing just doesn't work for us in it. (To be fair, I haven't given it more than two tries, but it was just weird and led to a fussy baby.) I have always loved and continue to love my ring sling for nursing. It's a completely natural position for my LO. I also used my woven wrap in a FCC a lot when she was itty bitty because I had oversupply and it seemed to help her regulate the milk flow better by nursing in an upright position.

  • The easiest to nurse are are rs and wraps.  Get a wrap conversion ring sling from sleeping baby productions or PAX baby...they are the best! And, with a wrap, there are many possibilities. Can't go wrong with either!
  • My favorite nursing carrier is the Babyhawk.

When he was really little I tried with the moby several times and just couldn't get the hang of it, so I kind of gave up.  Looking back, I think the problem was that I had a pea-head baby and pumpkin sized breasts.  Without head support, he was really just getting smooshed by boob and it would take me 2 hands to hold it for him which kind of defeats the purpose in nursing in a wrap.

When he was a little older (and bigger headed with neck control) I tried nursing in my Mei-tai and it was really easy.  Just loosen the straps, lower to nipple, and he'd latch on himself.  I've found it equally as easy with the Ergo - same concept, so I would think the Beco would be similar.
