Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What kind of bottles are you using?

With my first son I used the platex bottles with the drop in liners because they were easy to clean but this time around I want to try something different because it was a pain in the butt buying the liners.

I know all babies are different but I am curious what others are using, I do plan to breastfeed but also will need to pump and bottle feed.

I am looking into Tommee Tippees but I don't know anyone that uses them.

  • We also randomly use drop ins but our main bottles are the vent air and dr browns

  • We started with Avents because i had an Avent pump. then hubs got me a PISA for moms day so i switched to MEdelas so i can still pump right into a bottle. LO was ok with both . He will take from eiher now. sometimes i pump into the medela bags for direct storage. I have also learned.thatvthe Lansinoh bags are way better. I
  • We use the NUK bottles.  Our girls seem to like them the best and they are easy to clean (not as many parts as other bottles).

  • We use BornFree. They don't have that many parts either and DS has always liked them.

  • Playtex Vent-air and Dr. Brown's, because at first DS didn't take well to anything that vented through the nipple.  Now that he's older he's ok with it, and we just use the cheapo Parent's Choice ones (along with the Playtex).  They're surprisingly very nice!  I wish he would take NUK cause they're so darn stylish, but he won't do anything wide neck :(

Started with Madela because that was the pump I had. She would choke on them all the time. So we bought Playtex Vent Air. I love them! They have more parts but it only takes a few to wash em. And we I wash all at once one time a day so no biggy. Every now and then I'd try the Madela and for some reason she won't really latch on those and I don't like how her top lip gets tucked in with those nipples. I also like how the Vent Airs are at an angle.

  • Playtex ventair. They worked best for our gassy baby.

  • We use Dr. Brown's widenecks (the 8 oz ones).  The parts used to annoy me until I wised-up, bought a cheap dishwater basket and just threw everything in there.  I also bought a set of the travel caps for mixing the formula since it doesn't mix right when all the parts are in.
  • Another vote for the Playtex Ventaire bottles.

We LOVE them. We started with Tommee Tippee, and Aria hated them. They made her have SO much gas. A friend suggested the Ventaire, so I gave it a go... and now we rarely ever have gas, and I can't tell you the last time she spit up. It's been wonderful.

(ETA: I was EBF at first. I'd pump some and give it to Aria in a bottle so hubs could feed her... this was with the TT, and it gave her terrible gas. When we switched to FF, we used Enfamil and her gas just got worse. We changed to Similac and it helped a little, but the biggest game changer was the Ventaire bottle.)

FWIW, the TT bottles have more parts to clean than the Playtex... I spend half the time on bottles now.

I use Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature - Sensitive Tummies. Started with wideneck Nuks but reflux forced us into a sensitive bottle. Tried Dr. Browns but the 2 I got to try were both quite leaky, so I tried the Tommee Tippee - pricey, but totally worth it. Easy to clean/assemble, no leaks, no issues and actually did help with the gas. She switched from Nuks to Tommees with no problems and no hesitation. Because of the shape she is just a week and 3 months and can hold her own bottle sometime. That is was just a little added bonus!

Just a nice bottle. :) We love them!

  • We use Dr. Brown's and Born Free (all glass). The Dr. Brown's work with medela pumps, which is nice.

  • We use the Playtex Ventaire Wide bottles and also the Tommee Tippee bottles and she does well with both. We use the ventaire at night when she's falling asleep since it has a little bit slower flow to the nipple.

  • We love our Tommee Tippee bottles HOWEVER we just moved up to the fast flow #3 nipples and now they drip a ton. I've never had to use bibs before but now I use them to avoid a wet shirt.

After interviewing a bunch of different kids, we've stuck with Tommee Tippee. I think they are great. She definitely spits up a lot less with them than any other kind we tried.

  • We use glass Dr. Brown's. Originally, I purchased them only because they were glass, and figured the claims about how well the venting system works were just a bonus. After using them, I do find that they reduce gas and spit-up.

This exactly. I also hate that it's really hard to get the final bits of liquid out of the Nuk bottles because of the design. I got some free so I'll use them in a pinch but I'd never buy them again (although my son loves the nipple shape-- it's the only pacifier he'll take).

  • We started with Dr. Browns due to reflux and they worked great but the parts were annoying to clean.  We now use tommee tippee and my son absolutely loves them!  They are great for moms that breast feed because the bottle nipple resembles mommies nipple.
