When you did the one about MRI's and sedation I read it even though I didn't have any experience or need to know at that time. My oldest had complex febrile seizures on Tuesday. She had somewhere between 5-10 seizures in an 8 hour period. It took 12 hours for her to wake up and 3 types of seizure meds to stop the seizures. It landed us in the PICU for 2 days. They ended up doing an unsedated CT, a sedated MRI, and 2 EEGs done. . I felt more comfortable having an idea of how it would work.
Re: I love the PSA's
So glad you had the info! So sorry you guys went through that. How is she doing now? My DS had hand/foot/mouth virus last weekend and had some breakthrough seizures, after being controlled by meds for 13 months. It's tough.
Will she be on seizure meds now, or will you just treat fevers aggresively?
Shes back to normal. She is not on seizure meds but we have a diastat pen for emergencies. We just have to watch her closely if she gets sick.
That sounds like a good plan to me.
I had not thought about this, but we recently got a new diastat because DS had grown, so keep that in mind if she goes through a growth spurt. The dose needs to go up.
Glad to hear she is doing better!!
HOLY Smokes! That would scare me to death. I am so sorry!
I would imagine anyone with a temp that high would start seizing, wouldn't you think? Did they figure out what caused the fever? What did the paramedics do to cool her down? (I want to learn all I can. I have heard of putting a bag of frozen veggies on the inside of the wrist, but I want to have some tricks up my sleeve for next time.)
I hope the flashbacks ease up. Not fun.
