We have no plan about having another child. This is our first. My H says maybe right away. I told him I need to heal first and that I thought I needed a year. I keep forgetting to call and ask my Dr. What have you ladies been told? 6 months? A year? A year plus? 2 years? I'm just looking for an idea of what's the soonest we could start to try to have another baby so when we do decide, we have an idea. Thanks. Oh and i was an unplanned c/s. No problems or complications with my surgery. I've been released to go back to normal activity and sex already.

BFP#6 Surprise! Here comes baby #2! Harper Elizabeth born 12/17/13 via c-section
My previous OB said after 6 months is fine. However, my current OB suggested to wait until 1 year to get pregnant.
I'm pregnant with #2 now, 20 months after I gave birth with the 1st one.
Are you hoping to VBAC, then?
I would and I have heard 2 years between deliveries.
DS born via unplanned C-section at 40w6d
I was given the green light to conceive whenever I felt comfortable at my 6 week PP checkup.
You'll hear a lot of varying answers when this question is asked. Some OBs are more cautious than others. My OB did mention a higher risk of uterine rupture in births less than 18 months apart but also added that it happens in less than 1% of deliveries, so it's not exactly a common complication. I'm sure a lot of it depends on how your first delivery went, your overall health, age, etc. so this is a question that you should discuss with your OB.
A lot of it also depends on how you want to deliver. If you want a VBAC, a lot of OBs want to see 18-24 months between deliveries (although mine was fine with vbac 12.5 months apart) before they will consider giving you the option. If you are ok with a repeat c-section, they may tell you that you don't have to wait.
At my annual after my first I asked, expecting the answer to be 18 months, I guess my son was about 7-8 months... she told me "now is fine!"
We original had planned to start trying at his one year, and ended up really waiting until after he was 2, but it seems she wasn't concerned below the 18 month mark. Guess every doctor is different!
BUT - I am glad we waited this long because now I'm an excellent VBAC candidate, which I wouldn't have been only waiting 1 year (or less) to get pregnant again.
My OB has told me whenever I'm (and DH) is ready for another child. I heal well, minimal scarring, etc.
Now, all that being said, she DID tell me AFTER my 3rd to wait 1 year before trying to have a 4th because she felt like my body really needed a rest since I had 3 c-sections in 3 years.
GL!
My OB told me at my 3 week check up that he was fine with us TTC anytime we wanted. We got pregnant (not TTC, but obviously not being super careful) when DS was about 8 months old, and my RCS was 16.5 months after my 1st c/s. No issues.

For a VBAC attempt you want at least 18 months between deliveries. For repeat sections at least 12 months between. My first two sections were 14 months apart, and from the last to this one coming up it will be 18 months.
It really depends on how well you heal and the kind of incision they did on your section.
ditto
The ob told be i need to wait 18 months before getting pregnant again
