Circumcision Adhesion

So today I noticed that on one side of ds's penis the remaining foreskin on the shaft had connected to the head. I called the dr and the nurse told me to use warm water and Vaseline and lightly pull back the attached skin. I guess I wasn't pulling it back far enough when I changed his diaper (no one had told me to). It really seems attached but it doesn't seem to hurt when I try to pull it back. Has anyone dealt with this? I realize circumcisions are a sensitive subject but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Circumcision Adhesion

  • I kinda had the same thing happen--he was 7wks old tho. They told me the same thing...warm water and vaseline after. Just when I thought it was okay to stop using Vaseline it happened again. Now, when we do our nightly bath, I put a warm wash cloth over him, pull back the skin as far as I can, clean around it, and reapply Vaseline. It works for us! He never seemed in pain through the whole process.

We had that happen at 2 months. I pull it back at every diaper change now. Every now and again, I pull the skin from the head very gently. He doesn't seem to mind either. The doctor told me that you can never go wrong with Vaseline or bacitracin. We used the bacitracin when it got stuck on the bottom and it started to bleed. I was so upset, but just kept it clean and used the ointment.

So I've been trying to pull back the skin but it will not separate. I called the dr back and the nurse said I could come in and let the dr do it but it's very painful because they don't use any anesthetic. How awful! They use topical anesthetic in the hospital so I don't see why they can't use it at the dr's office. I have a call into a pediatric urologist. I definitely want to get this taken care of before it causes any issues. I really wish someone had told me to watch for this.

  • I know what you mean.  The remaining foreskin has almost fully attached itself back to the head of DS penis.  We're trying the pullback/vaseline routine every diaper change, but it doesn't seem to be helping at all.  It definitely would have been nice to be forewarned about this happening.
