XP: Kidco Peapod Pop Up Tent - NOT FOR INFANTS

Someone on my BMB asked where I got my Kidco Peapod Pop Up Tent, so I hopped on Google to find a link to it and found some very sad news.

Supposedly, due to the story shared in the link above, Amazon has stopped carrying the Peapod due to suffocation hazard.  Neither the Consumer Product Safety Commission nor Kidco has issued a recall, but it is very important to realize that this is not safe for children to sleep in.  The manual states that "PeaPod is designed for infants from birth to approximately 1 year.  However, since each child develops differently, these age parameters should be monitored against your child?s own development."  But if an infant is unable to move their face from an unventilated fabric, it is not a safe product for them.  Keep your babies safe!

Here is a picture if you're not sure what the product is - the door is mesh, but the remaining sides are tent material, and are not breathable.  So if your baby's face is against the side then they could suffocate.

  • If you reasearch more about it you will see that it is NOT what it seems. The Peapod is safe. If it wasn't a recall would be issued. It's sad when misinformation out there can ruin a product and a company.

I have researched it and own it.  However, it is NOT safe for a child who cannot move themselves, you can't breathe through the material, and the bottom edge of the tent is made from that solid material.  It is currently being investigated, but because a recall hasn't been issued doesn't mean it's safe.
