We're giving the kids their gifts at their party (July 14th). They are each getting a gift for themselves: Sophia is getting a Radio Flyer Trike and well I have no clue what to get Samuel.
But we are also buying them a "big gift" for both of them. We had a ginormous kitchen when Sophie was smaller that she loved but it ended up growing mold, so we decided to get them a kitchen.
I can't decide between these two.
Kitchen 1: KidKraft Deluxe Let's Cook Kitchen: $176.99 (TRU) includes only kitchen
Kitchen 2: Step2 Lifestyle Deluxe Kitchen: $179.98(TRU) includes 38piece cookware and food set.

Re: XP: The dreaded birthday posts: Which kitchen? CP!
I think we've settled on this one: yHveT7beApTm6gG-qtWGCw&ved=0CHcQ8wIwAg, same price point. Sorry if that makes it worse...
ETA- that link crapped out, it's the grillin kitchen by little tykes.
I didn't see the pool until after I posted.. It didnt load completely.
But I'm not a fan of the wooden ones, I love Step 2.... my house is filled with Step 2 and Little Tikes
Same. Our old kitchen was a huge plasic one that was originally my little sisters but it needed to be stored and everything in the storage unit that ended up covered in mold.

We have this one: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3872808
I love that it is height-adjustable. DD1 plays with it all the time and DD2 can pull up on it since it's still on the shorter height.
I have this one...

It's amazing and it doesn't look tacky in the house. We bought all wood Melissa and Doug food and Ikea sells awesome pots and pans for kids.
