Lately, one of my girls has been not acting hungry. Hardly ever! They are 7 months old (today! oh my.) and still EBF plus one meal of solids in the evening time. We started purees about a week after they turned 6 months old.
She nurses 6 times per day and STTN from 8p-6a(ish). I used to count on that she would nurse a full 30 min for 2-3 feedings and the others she seems to be "snacking". And now those 2-3 feedings she used to nurse for around 30 min she is now starting to cut much shorter! There are days where she will refuse her post afternoon nap feeding and then only nurse for a few short minutes before bedtime. I even stopped feeding solids for a few days just in case she was getting too full from them and not wanting to nurse. But at this point she should be hungry enough for both right?! We only feed a couple oz of veggies at this point.
I know they are getting more efficient, and I am definitely not complaining about that. I am just concerned because V's weight gain has been much slower since she started this. Like only 4oz in 2 weeks! While her sister has gained 12.5oz in the same timeframe While she is more efficient I can also tell she isn't taking in as much since I still pump twice a day (and get a significant amount more out of her boob)
Possibly contibuting factor: She does have reflux. She has always been a pukey baby but also ate like a champ and gained perfectly. The doctor started her on Prevacid and that did help a lot with her puking but that is right when all these issues started. I researched online and saw that some have problems with Prevacid causing decreased appetite. I brought this up to her GI doctor and he switched her to Zantac. We were off meds completely for a few days in between and her eating was the same.
I'm really worried I have tried giving her pumped milk in a bottle after nursing and she just won't have it. It is truly like her appetite is just gone. What can I do to stimulate her appetite? I feel like she is on a nursing strike, but can that even happen for a baby who very rarely gets a bottle (like twice a month if that). I thought babies weren't supposed to starve themselves! Help!!
