Wyatt's fast and furious arrival and some advice

Our son was born on June 14th, Flag day! A little early (36 weeks to the day) but is doing well. A little bit of Jaundice and a little small, so just a couple of nights in the NICU with a billy light.

My advise, get your stuff together! I was at a friends house when all of a sudden my water broke, on her carpeted livingroom floor (btw, once your water breaks, you keep producing liquids and it just keeps coming out or in my case gushing!)...I feel a little bad about that...At this point my husband and I had just printed out the list to make our hospital bags, had the car seat and base next to the front door and were planning on getting the last few things this weekend (nursery and clothes all washed and ready to go..thank goodness!) Well, that didn't happen. We throw a bunch of stuff into a bag, grabbed the carseat and left. Luckily for us the hospital is only 13 minutes from our house, so we could go back and get things if we needed them. I went into pre-labor around 4am (btw,breaking your water doesn't mean that you will go into full labor), and only dilated to 2 cm by 6:20am, was checked again at 8:30 and was at 9.5, so no time for drugs,and started pushing at 9ish, Wyatt was out by 9:20.

If you're like us and have planned to take all the classes and finish everything up around your 37th week, I would advise you to start acting sooner because you never know when you baby will want to be here!

Wow, congratulations!! Yeah, my bag has been packed since about 34 weeks.

Now just waiting for my little girl to arrive. I hope my labor goes that fast!!! I'm glad everyone is doing great!

I was only checked when entered the hospital that night, 1 cm, at 6:20 2cm, then again at 830 when I told the nurse my body really wanted to push. She later said she didn't believe me because this was my first, and it had only been 2 hours since the last check. Plus the monitor never really said I was having contractions, only irritations...don't trust the monitor, trust your body. And once I learned how to breath, the pain wasn't so bad. I breathed in slowly counted to 7 (I tried 10, but couldn't) then breathed out slowly for 7 or so, but always counting, plus holding my husband hand helped a lot too. Another thing that helped was sitting on a birthing ball at the end of my bed and resting my head on my bed, going into the bathtub, stratling the toilet, and focusing on a point across the room. Laying down didn't really feel great, I needed my legs to be down. Its true what they say, once you hold your baby in your arms, the pain goes away. Plus my recovery has been great!
