CP: How will LO school?

I know our LOs are only coming up on a year but by this point most people have it in their head how their LOs will be receiving an education.

SS* Catholic schools are publicly funded here (well, for now) so that's the plan.

We moved a year ago and a good school district was high on our list, so the public system in our town is the plan. If we have to move again we'll re-assess based on the regional school options.

Oh sorry, just saw this now. Ontario, Canada. I believe we are the only province left with it though, so who knows what will change over the coming years. It is the system I grew up in, and teach in now also, so hoping it sticks around! :)

  • I'm hoping for the public charter school, but it is a lottery draw to get in, so not something we can know until he is older.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • Public, we chose where we bought our house based on the school district.

  • I would love to send DS to private/catholic school, but the tuition is outrageous....especially when it comes to high school (its practically college tuition pricing).

So, needless to say, to public school is where he will go.  Which, I have no problem with...that's where DH and I both went.

  • I'm still undecided.  The public school he would go to is good in our area tho so probably that.

  • I voted SS because we're not sure yet.  I want public school, but DH wants private.  Our plan right now is to try to pay down our house (we're underwater and we have a 2nd mortgage) so that we can move to the best school district in the area.  The problem is that said district is VERY expensive and has not a single apartment complex in the district... so it may be a pipe dream.

  • Truly, I have no idea yet. If I had to decide today I would either do homeschool or a cyber charter school because the school district we live in is a mess. When we bought our house, we just weren't thinking of schools at that point, and now we really regret it. The plan is to move, but we aren't sure where we can afford. I worked in a lot of school districts as a TSS, and there are only a handful locally that I would send DD to. So unless we can move to one of those, she will be schooled at home somehow because unfortunately we cannot afford private school.
  • We're not sure where we'll be living when LO is school aged. I went to public elementary and private high school, and my husband was the exact opposite.

We'll make the decision when the time comes. If by chance we're living where we are now, she'll be in private school.

Ditto. The schools our neighborhood feeds into are among the top in the state. Public schools here.

  • Either Catholic or a secular private school, most likely. If we move to an area with "blue ribbon schools," there's a huge chance we will change our minds. Right now, I'd rather keep him out of the NYC public school system.

  • Our public elementary school is #2 in the entire state so yeah, she will be going there if we still live at our current address.
