I am curious how much use you got out of your glider, if it was in lo's nursery. In trying out several gliders, of course the most comfy ones are the most expensive. I am eyeing $900 one right now. That seems like a lot of money to spend on a chair that I will only use for a few years. But if you ladies tell me I will be spending hours and hours in this thing every day, I would probably go for it!

Our Twin Baby + a Big Girl Blog
And with the delivery trifecra of one twin vaginal, one c-section with general anesthesia for twin B, Spencer and Sidney joined us at 35 weeks exactly on June 18.
I bought a Best chair that rocks & swivels, and a matching rocking ottoman. I use it Every Single Day. I used it TONS when LO was a baby & we were BF. Now that she's older, we sit in it every night for her bedtime bottle, and then rock & cuddle for a few minutes after before I put her to bed - its my favorite time of day! I plan for this to be our bedtime story chair, and then if we ever outgrow that, the chair is comfy & fashionable enough to move to the living room (it just looks like a nice club chair). It was probably in the $600 ballpark for both the chair & ottoman.
Edit: Add that before LO was STTN, I spent a LOT of my overnight hours cuddling/nursing her in that chair. I moved her from our room to the nursery around 2 weeks old.

We have a rocking chair...but a chair is a chair...right?
I insisted the chair of my dreams was a must (it really annoyed DH). I felt regret over it in the beginning. DS slept in our room at first, then he was a super baby to put to sleep when he did go to his crib. Honestly, DS is 5 months old and I didn't really use it until last month. Now he's teething and crabby and the rocking (or gliding) is the only thing that helps. It's our only chair in the house that gives motion like that and we spend so much time in it.
I'm really glad I got the chair I liked. It's solid and will hold up through future children and it matches our home well. I completely intend on keeping it even after I don't have babies anymore.
If you like it, and you think it will hold up and will be worth the money I'd go for it. IMO $900 seems really crazy. But we all have priorities and know our budgets. Bottom line---get a chair you like so you're not aggravated each time you sit in it (because some of us I'm sure are in theirs FOREVER). But I think if I were to spend that much money I'd plan to use it longer than a few years (like make it a normal piece of furniture after babies).
We have used ours every single day for the past 14 months. In the early months, I felt like I sat in it all day long. I think it really depends on where you plan to spend your time, feed your baby, etc. A glider isn't necessary, but we used it a ton.
We didn't spend nearly that much though. We spent under $200 at Target to get the color we wanted and knew it wouldn't last forever. After a year of heavy use it still looks great. At $900 I'd make sure it was multi-functional. Could it go into another bedroom, family room, or somewhere else when you are done with it in the nursery?
Wait, seriously, $900? Are you sh!tting me? Not worth it. Nope. Not even if you sat in it hours a day... still.not.worth.it.
We never used ours. I've MAYBE used it 3 times.

I have used my glider every single day and I still use it read him books and rock when he is sick.
But there is no way in he!! I would pay 900 for one. I got mine brand new off of craigslist for 80. It was orginally 150 from Target.
Works great and still looks brand new!

I knew I didn't want to be confined to LO's room so I bought one as a piece of living room furnature. I made sure it matched the decor and tried several to find one that was comfortable and that "fit" me (I have short legs and often times my feet don't touch the floor when sitting in recliners or on sofas). We paid around $500 for the glider and ottoman and I use them every day (some days I feel like I'm sitting in it all day).
If you like the chair and think you'll use it past the baby stage then go for it. It's your money, spend it how you'd like (we bought a $700 travel system).
I use my rocker everyday for nite feeding and story time...I didn't feel confortable paying a lot of money for mine but if you got the money to spend on the rocker you love then do it...
But i did notice that depending on where your baby will be sleeping will determine how much you use it...it's not really convinent to go in the nursery to rock the baby if she/he is sleeping in your bedroom.
I think $900 is crazy, but I did go way above budget on our's because of the comfort factor. I don't like the traditional wooden ones with the pads bc they are not very comfortable. We went with one by Best Chairs and I love it! It is super comfy and it doesn't look like a baby nursery glider--just like a regular chair. We got it in a light tan color so we can use it in future nurseries and then once we get to the point where we don't have babies anymore, we can just use it as a regular chair somewhere in the house. That is at least how we justified going over budget.
I use it every night now (I didn't for the first few months bc she was in our room) and sometimes before or after naps.
I used the glider a ton in the beginning (first three months), for nursing while sitting up, or reclined with DD on top of me.
I don't use it nearly as much now (as far as time spent in it), but I would go so far as to say that I use it every day. If I don't nurse baby in bed prior to putting her to bed, I nurse her in the glider.
We bought the Monte Grano (google the cost at your own risk). It was way, way more than I wanted to spend, but because space is at a premium in DD's bedroom, it was on of the few glider/recliners that fit with our design aesthetic and space limitations. That said, we think it's a nice looking chair and anticipate on using it for many more years, whether in the living room or in DD's room. I think it is more comfortable than almost all the other gliders we tried out except for maybe this one dutailier that was like floating on clouds. That one was way too wide for baby's room though. We didn't find the wooden gliders comfortable or suitable with how baby's room is decorated.
