Can't get ds to take a sippy

We've tried the nuby soft spout and he makes a mess with it and just chews on it. We've tried the hard spout playtex and he doesn't get that either and we tried an avent white somewhat hard spout and he doesn't get that. He just likes to chew on hem or turn upside down. Any suggestions? Tis

  • Have you tried straw cups?  They're the only ones that either of my boys "gets".  We use mostly Munchkin with a few Playtex thrown in for good measure.  Started using some take&toss straw cups as well...

  • We love this one:

She does it all by herself with water in it.  Unfortunately DD has no desire to drink milk out of anything but a bottle.

  • Havent tried that yet. I will though. Don't want to invest a small fortune on sippys. I wonder how long it takes to catch on to one?

  • Thanks for posting this!  I have tried so many cups and she will take a sip or too but really wants her bottle.  DS came off the bottle in one day to the playtex cups and did fine.  She is just much harder.  She is also waking up like 3 times a night again and wants milk.  I have thought about the Avent cups but I  might try the straw cups.  Good luck to you!!

I thought we were the only ones having trouble transitioning!

  • I bought some nuby sport spout thinking he might do okay with that since the nipple is more similar to a bottle nipple and he just played with it and pushed it away. Won't even take a bottle from me and I'm trying not to nurse during the day. Would like to wean am and pm feedings too. Hopefully dh has luck tonight and maybe it's just me because he knows I have it on tap...  Dh did try several supply's yesterday while I was at work though and he wouldn't take anything. I'm going to look for straw kind next and hope that works.
