The Girl Scout trip for the girl's troop that SD, DD and I are going on for 6 days is almost here. We fly out Monday morning. We have been paying on this trip & doing fundraisers for 2.5 years now. We planned the trip for the 100th anniversary of girl scouts which is this year. I've got SD's birth certificate, a limited POA and another notarized document to take with me just in case. It will be SD and DD's first flight and they are nervous. I have only flown 1x before and I was 15 at the time. I'm freaking about packing our bags, trying to decide whether to check luggage or not, ect. If anyone has any packing tips, let me know! I basically feel like a first time flyer since I never had to handle any of this stuff when I flew before.
We have SKs this weekend for Father's day and DD is at her dad's. This is one of the only times my SKs are ever here without DD so SD is saying she's bored all the time already. I think she's also really excited about Monday. We will take the boys only back to BM's on Sunday since our flight out is so early on Monday.
Yesterday was my youngest SS's bday. He turned 8. I'm still in shock. I've known him since he was 14 mths. Anyway, both SS9 & SS8 are also excited because BM is taking them to CA (on their first plane trip) and they leave next week also to meet up with their SF who is out on another concert tour (he is a bus driver). So all of the kids (except DS) are getting to ride on a plane for the first time in the same week.
We get home from our trip next Saturday, the next day we take the girls to summer camp (for girl scouts) for 6 days and we will pick them up on Fri the 29th. We are going to take them home, unpack, then run SD back to BM's. I talked DD's BD into not picking her up until the next day so DD can sleep in her own bed for 1 night before she goes to his house for a month.
And lastly, I'm sad to be leaving DH & DS behind. DS has never been away from me this long. I know he will be fine but I am going to miss him like crazy! I'm used to being away from all the other kids but he is always with us and I've only spend 2 nights away from him before and he is such a momma's boy that I fear for DH lol.
Re: Our trip is on Monday and other summer craziness :)
Do not check luggage unless you have to, borrow carry on luggage from people if you need to and have each of you take one piece or even less if you can cut back - I pack VERY light and could easily pack for 6 days for me and my little kids in one carry on plus each of us having a small personal item like a backpack. The airline will likely charge you for checking luggage so do not pay it if you can avoid, and luggage can get lost.
Have fun!
