Woven wrap recommendation.

I currently have a Moby wrap, but I would like to switch to a woven wrap. Do any of you have any recommendations for one you really liked?

Thanks. :)

Re: Woven wrap recommendation.

  • I started out with a didymos indio, which I liked. Bu then I got a Zara Leaf and I loved it. I have now moved on to a linen wrap as my favorite.

It's very much a lot of personal preference - is there any way you can go to a babywearing group and try some on?

Lots of people love Girasol wraps, but I have one and find I never reach for it. I also have a hemp wrap that I like a lot. Each wrap has different qualities, so it depends on what you are looking for.

this is a good resource: https://www.becomingmamas.com/babywearing/wraps/

as well as the forums at thebabywearer.com ( I bought a few of my used wraps there, but they also have active forums on the qualities of different wraps and good resources on how to do the different carries)

  • I would second the Gira (I've got a Earthy Rainbow I love but all are pretty aweome from my understanding) or a Vatani or possibly a Didy cotton (stripes seem to be a hit with many new moms).

I would steer away from for a first wrap the following (based on my own experience and the recs from other way more experienced wrappers):  Jade, Zara, any of the 50/50 linens (all three are pretty grippy and can be hard to do passes with if you are a newbie),  BB Slen (very wide, a great wrap once you have some experience but that much fabric can be overwhelming.)

  • I noticed that it depends on how long you want to wear. My woven wraps have changed over time since my LO is bigger now. At first I LOVED my Girasol Night Rainbow and we used it all the time last summer, but now that he is around 25lbs I find Didymos Linen or hemp blends to be more supportive then my Girasol. Just like PP stated don't get overwhelmed with all the options and that website is great. The woven wrap that made babywearing click for us was my Girasol Night Rainbow, so I think that is a great starting point, but once your LO gets bigger you may notice some sagging and back pain issues. If you want to continue wearing I would look into other options with linen or hemp. Right now I love how rock solid supportive my petrol hemp indio from Didymos is.

  • I have a Vat Ravenna that I love- it's so soft and easy to wrap with. I also have a Didy waves that I don't really love. It looks beautiful, but I don't really like the texture. And I have a C&C Miel et Malice that is my go-to wrap. It's super durable but still soft and comfy.

I'm still trying to decide what to try next. I want to find a new wrap that I love before I sell the Didy.

  • There are so many options! I have a didymos, Gira and Dolcino.  The Dolcino is so soft, right out of the box.  The didy wasn't too hard to break in (I have a didy waves) and the Gira will be used for another wcrs, I love them for that.
