Cloth Diapering

Are there any diapers or wipes you shouldn't spray Bac-out on?

Because it has enzymes?  If so, is there an alternative pre-treat type of product?

*sorry - I meant "shouldn't use Bac-out on" - thanks!

  • I don't think so. I read that the whole enzyme theory was baloney. I use it on any CD that needs it. I also use it on clothes and my carpets/rugs to treat/prevent stains. HTH.

  • It is not recommended to use on natural fibers (hemp, bamboo, cotton) because the enzymes can eventually break down the natural fibers.

My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy.  Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.

  • Wow!  I use it on my cotton and hemp all the time.  Well, crap!

You're not supposed to use it on Rumparooz, either.  The use a different fabric for waterproofing, not PUL but something more eco friendly, and it can deteriorate it.  Also with Rumparooz you're not supposed to put them in direct sunlight when drying.

I love bac out and all of my CDs go in the sun, so I de-stashed almost all of my RaR.

  • I use it with no problems. I water it down though.

  • I've used it on all my diapers (natural and synthetic) with no issues.  HOWEVER., I do mix it 1 part bacout to 3 parts water.  It still works beautifuly, but If it is any stronger my daughter breaks out in a rash.
