FlgBride

Went to the pedi yesterday.  It went as well as could be expected.  I actually forgot to pay attention to how tall DS#2 is, but both height and weight were up there on the charts pretty high :-)  He got one Hep A shot.  The doctor listened while I described things that were going on with DS#2 and was nodding his head when I asked about going to a geneticist.  He also recommended a developmental pedi without me asking about it.  I'll call both on Monday.  I asked about allergy testing too (his nose constantly drips, like for a year now..) So we went down to the lab and they took 2 vials from him (sad face!!) and he wanted us to get a CT scan done as well, but he would not hold still for that, so we're just bypassing that for now (pedi office is in the hospital which is why we were able to do all that right then).

So yeah!  It was overwhelming because I did not realize we'd be able to do the allergy testing and (try) the CT scan right then, so we were all over the place.  Poor baby was worn out after all that and we were already SERIOUSLY pushing nap time so he zonked out in the car on the way home, haha :-)

So....moving forward!  We met his speech pathologist this past Wednesday and that starts in 2 weeks :-)

  • Yay for moving forward! Ugh, I hate it when a semi-short appointment turns into an all afternoon thing. I'm also really glad that your ped took your concerns seriously. I hope you were able to get a hold of the dev ped and the geneticist today and I hope that your wait isn't too long for either of those. How long for the allergy tests to come back?

  • OMgosh, will you believe I forgot to call them yesterday?  My older one ended up breaking his arm on Saturday and I spent half the day Monday dealing with that thinking he was getting his cast (turns out we have to wait until Thursday..he has a splint/soft cast for now).  These boys.  I swear!  He fell off of his scooter he was riding.  Ok, gosh, today is new day and I am going to get those things set up.  sheesh!!  The allergy thing wasn't supposed to take long.  I'm waiting to see if they call me and if they haven't by Friday I'm calling them.  We started Allegra last Wednesday and I think it's helping pretty well, which is good.

  • Oh man! I hope DS1 is feeling better. Broken arms are no fun. I totally understand forgetting to call. I've been so overwhelmed/busy/forgetful this week. Ugh! I hope that your week has gotten better! :)

  • Allergy test came back with NO hits.  What?!  So my kid's nose runs for no reason....??  Someone told me I need to go to an actual allergist and get more extensive testing done.  I'm not sure.  He's 2.  DS#1 had the same thing and when he hit 3, 3.5 the runny nose stopped.  Hmm....

I'm almost set up with the dev. pedi.  I'll admit I did not do any more follow up.  I started back teaching dance again (more) and have been VERY busy.  Had some off nights of not much sleep.  Thursday was a complete blurr (DS#2 finally got his cast).  Monday begins a new week and I will get more done.  I was waiting on an actual, physical referral from my pedi to the dev. pedi.  before I could make an appointment.  I'm sure it's there by now so no reason not to call and get that appointment set in stone.  geneticist....hmmm....I called twice, weird phone stuff going on.  Then I heard bad reviews :-/  So I dunno.  I will call again on Monday and see what happens. If I still can't get a hold of them I'll call the pedi back and ask if they recommend anyone else!!
