I'm debating buying some WCM at the store this weekend just to start getting him used to the taste... anyway, my question is - when do you ladies give your LOs WCM, almond milk, hemp milk or whatever? Are you doing this in place of bottles/breastfeedings, with meals? I have no idea what I'm doing, but I want to start transitioning him because I'm so not a fan of his formula since Target changed the packaging. I think the formula changed a little
Re: Transitioning to WCM
She gets a sippy of milk with breakfast, water with lunch, water during the day (if she wants it) and usually a sippy of milk with dinner. Oh and she never finishes any of them.
She still BFs all. the. dang. time. though. I am so ready to wean... only I'm not.
We have been slowly mixing WCM into his bottles of formula. No issues with the taste - he drinks it fine. Daycare also gives him a sippy of milk at meals, but I doubt he drinks more than a few sips at a time of that. He's actually had major constipation issues since we started the switch, but they might be starting to clear up now.
He was getting 28oz of formula and he doesn't need 28oz of WCM so I think I'm going to cut out a bottle somewhere. I seriously have no idea what I'm doing.

My Blog: Decorate This
I have been offering 1-2 oz at dinner, just to get her used to it. Oh, in a sippy cup. My plan is next week to offer it with 2 meals, and the week after that offer it with all 3 meals.
The week after that she will be going back to daycare, and I'm not sure what to do then. I think I'm going to try to mix BM with WCM... but maybe only send 2 bottles instead of 3? They provide WCM in sippy cups at daycare, so I can also ask them to offer her that first and the bottle only if needed. I'm hoping to wean myself from the pump at that time, but continue nursing in the morning and bedtime if my supply holds out.
So thats my sorta-plan...
We started mixing last week. We started with 4 oz formula and 2 oz milk, then after a couple of days we did 3 oz and 3 oz for a day or so, and then 4 oz milk and 2 oz formula. Monday we started all milk.
We did it place of bottles, she gets breakfast and milk in a cup (which she won't touch - she hates milk in a sippy) then a little after breakfast I'll put it in a bottle and give it to her. Then we do the same at lunch, snack gets water and dinner the same. She's usually done her milk around 6:45 then we go upstairs between 7 and 7:15 for a bath, story and bed.
I will say the transition to bottles after eating wasn't hard. We still need to work on the sippy but our pedi wants us to just make sure she gets her milk for this month, then we'll check her growth, if all is fine we can go cold turkey with the bottles.
Last week we did 2oz. of WCM mixed with 4-5oz. of formula. This week we did equal parts and next week we'll do 4-5oz. of WCM mixed with 2oz. of formula. I'm hoping to get him to all WCM by the end of next week, or by the end of this current formula container we have open. I've tried to do a sippy of just WCM, but he's not a huge fan, but even after I tried the formula mixed in, he still didn't like the milk from a sippy.
I have to admit though, the thought of trying to leave the house with cold milk kinda scares me. I love just bringing the powder and mixing as needed. Oh well!
DD is still nursing quite frequently. I am in no rush to wean but figured I'd see how she'd take to WCM. In the event we decide to do IVF again I won't be able to nurse on the meds so I sort of have that in the back of my mind.
Anyway, I give her a straw sippy of Organic WCM at each meal and she seems to like it but she only has a few sips. She has never been a big drinker, which I assume is fine since she drinks from the tap all the time. I am definitely wasting milk b/c she has never finished a sippy. Then again, she's never finished a sippy of water either. She gets water all day long between meals in a straw sippy.
