First Haircut

Ok, so maybe second haircut (my cousin trimmed the sides at Easter). How do we go about doing this at such a young age? I was thinking of feeding him a bottle as they are cutting it so he doesn't move around a ton.

I would love to wait until he is one but his hair is out of control! I don't know if I am going to take him to a kid's hair place or have my cousin do it again (she is my stylist but I don't think she has a ton of expierence with babies). Has anyone else had LO's haircut yet?

Re: First Haircut

  • What if you get him to fall asleep on your shoulder? Then he would be upright with his back to the stylist maybe? My DD probably wont have hair until shes 12 so Im really no help.

  • We have thought about this alot.... unless we comb his hair to the side it's been past his eye level for about 2 months! When he was born when we brushed it, it would go about 1 inch  or less from his eyes.

While we have been trying to delay it as long as possible..... we know this day will come soon. Does he have a toy that really engages him? I would prop him up in the bumbo or other seat and give him some toys to play with.... if he gets fussy you could try the bottle route. My grandma said she would always use a favorite toy and a good hair sylist should be able to safely cut with some movement (especially if they are used to working with kids). GL and let me know how it goes!

  • Sry...re-read your post. If you aren't comfortable with your stylist because she doesn't have experience with babies, would be alright with calling cartoon cuts or somewhere like that? They should have experience with babies... or at least more than a regular stylist would!

DS has started crawling so holding him still near impossible. He wants to be down and exploring. Thanks for the idea though. As for him falling asleep on me, this hasn't happened since he was about 4 months. When it's time to go to bed he does not want to be held, which I know is good for him, but I miss it so much Crying

Maybe we will just skip the haircut and let him rock the mullet/rat tail. LOL, ok maybe not!

Ha! I'm glad you posted this. I was just looking online for next week. Her hair gets in her eyes so much now, that I'm going to have to give in and get her a haircut.

We plan on taking her to a kiddie haircut place because they deal with many squirmy babies and toddlers.

I'll let you know how it goes!
