Is this a tic? Edited

Trev makes fart noises using his tongue against his teeth... Drives me bonkers! He literally doesn't know he is doing it and I know he really can't control it, but I constantly find myself saying ," Trev, cut it out!" Does this behavior just go along with the PDD/ anxiety issue, or is it something else?

    Thanks for posting this. I have been asking ds's teachers and therapists about this little humming thing he does that makes me want to gouge my own eyes out by the end of the day. No one else has noticed it so I wonder if he is doing it out of boredom and not when he is otherwise engaged in school or therapy. Not sure yet but this post gave me some things to think about and try to make note of. So far I don't think he knows he is doing it and sometimes I don't notice it- but as soon as I do it is wicked annoying.

    Yup, complete wrong word, but I thank you for the responses. He doesn't do it all the time, but once he starts it lasts a while. I noticed the other day that my friends son who also has PDD does the exact same thing. I also wondered if it was a stim.

    Drives me up a wall!! He happily playing with a friend and has not done it at all today, but the past 2 days were awful.

    Backstory-

    I was using my laptop in the dining room when I read your post. I normally work from a small office off my living room but DS's allergies are bothering him and the constant throat clearing had chased me to a quieter space. I was reading your post and trying to concentrate around the "hmm, hmm's" when I spied a little bug on the tablecloth near me. To which I exclaimed "Is this a tick?"

    Alas it was. At my house we have both kinds.

     LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!  Love this!  We should have a silly side of SN check in every week.   Hugs to OP.  The fart noises sound both hilarious and aggravating.
