Favorite front-facing carrier?

I'm looking for a carrier that I can use for my 3-month old son who loves to be facing outward.  I know there are options out there but I'm curious about what you guys have liked.  Thanks!

Re: Favorite front-facing carrier?

  • I have been through 3 carriers. the Belle Baby carrier is my absolute favorite! I got one super cheap on ebay. It may not be comfortable for long time carrying though.

  • I would just recommend to do your research about front facing carriers.. I am sure for a short period of time its ok but I have heard they are really bad for your baby's hips/spine.

  • Right now I am using an Bjorn (gasp!) for forward facing.  I know I won't be able to use it very long because it becomes uncomfortable the heavier she gets and the whole center of balance thing becomes an issue too, but I should get a couple of months out of it until she is big enough to go on my back in the Moby.  I only wear her for 30 minutes max at a time so I am not worried about the whole hip issue thing.

I also did tried to wear her facing out in a ring sling (kangaroo hold), but the pressure of her legs on her stomach makes her spit up.

You might want to look in to a woven for back carries instead of the Moby. Stretchy wraps aren't usually recommended for back carries because the material can sag.

  • We have the Becco Gemini which is a good option.  I kind of wish I tried the Lillebaby Nordic, which looks the same but with optional hood, some pockets and a higher weight limit for less money. If we're still using the carrier with #1 when #2 arrives, I may add this to our stash.

NO. DO NOT use the moby on your back. It is ridiculously unsafe. Get a woven wrap if you want to wrap on your back. Do NOT use stretchy material on your back.

LOL  No worries.  I meant the Ergo.  This stupid sleep deprivation thing is making me batty.  The funny thing is that I HATE my Moby, so I have no idea why I wrote that.

  • I'm on my fifth carrier, and I'm convinced it will be my last.  I've tried the baby balboa, infantino, two different versions of the bjorn and now the boba wrap.  There is a little bit of a learning curve with the boba wrap, but my 7 month old loves it and it is also incredibly comfortable and easy to move around with; not bulky like some of the other carriers.
  • I am a well-informed mama who uses our Bjorn for front-facing carrying.  DS loves it, so do we, super easy.  If I had the money to try another, I'd go for the Becco Gemini.

  • Beco Gemini. My son only likes front facing out and we have had zero problems with over stimulation. He is always so quiet and calm when he's in it. I always lift/bend his legs to make sure he's still in a seated position and not dangling. I only turn him around if it's time to sleep.
