Worst things about going over your due date (vent, kind of)--

Okay, Ladies, Im bored, hot and 4 days past due, so I thought it could be fun to do a 'worst things about being overdue' list . . .

I will start--

1. Even your maternity clothes dont fit anymore

2. Everyone says to go for walks, but your feet are so swollen you can only get them in flip-flops, so you end up with blisters up and down the sides of your feet

Look forward to commiserating with you!

I'm going to modify this one since I'm not overdue, but have a week to go.

    1. Ditto the clothes issue....sooooo thankful school's out for the summer so I can lounge around in the last few outfits that actually fit!

    2. The CONSTANT texts and phone calls about "nothing new".  NO!  and at this point I might just not call anyone who's been annoying me.

    3. The inability to sleep.  At night I am constantly up going to the bathroom (whether I have to go or not it feels like it) and waking up to simply readjust and roll over.  Being home isn't helping because I can rest/nap during the day which makes it even harder to sleep at night.

  • The constant phone calls, emails, texts, and facebook wall messages with some variation of "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE THAT BABY, JEEZ?"

Oh, whoops, guess I forgot to tell that baby to just come out already!  Lemme try that...

I had to turn my facebook wall off because I was getting irritated with the comments.  I know people mean well, I do, but I'm frustrated enough as it is.  I don't need the hourly reminder that yes, I'm past due.  No, I'm not going to have a fourth of July baby instead.  No, your quoting of the bogus "First time moms go 8 days overdue" study does not help.  Best thing anyone said? "Praying for you!" and that was it.  Then she clarified with, "I know how it is with everyone bugging you about being overdue, and being powerless to do anything about it!"  Can I get an amen!

  • I'm not overdue but echoing what others are saying. The constant texts/phone calls/ comments are the worst! Granted most mean well it is super annoying.  I don't blame my lo for staying in... At least people cant bother you there haha.

  • I'm due Monday, so I'll play along...

    1) the phone calls.  I've stopped answering.

    2) the physical pain.  Baby is so low that I have tons of pressure on all my girl parts and walking is immensely painful.  So, when people tell me to walk to kickstart labor, I want to hit them.

    3) sleeping in my bed is super painful at this point. I actually moan when I have to roll over.

    4) I have been sick with a virus the last week and just developed a horrible cold sore on my chin.  It feels terrible and looks awful, so I'm just mad at the world. I can't wait to see how awesome it's going to look in all the hospital pictures.

  • Totally agree with everyone about the constant messages! I just assumed that one was a given!

On a more positive note, the best thing about being overdue?? The look on people's faces when they ask you when you are due and you tell them, 4 days ago. They are so shocked, like you might have the baby right there at that moment!

Oh, that's terrible. Im so sorry. My husband told me yesterday that he thought he was getting the flu. I totally freaked out. Luckily he is just a hypochondriac.

THIS!!!!!!!  If ONE more person tells me to go for a walk, I'm gonna lose it...

  • I agree with alot of the previous comments, especially texts and messages every hour from fb "baby yet? baby yet? baby yet? baby yet?" ARRG!

Technically not overdue yet, but I feel like it XD

    1. Listening to people whine that they lost thier bet because you didnt have your baby yesterday.

    2. Being bored out of my mind waiting for each hour to tick by, hoping the next hour will bring an exciting labor sign!!

    3. Your husband saying every 2 hours "lets have sex!! Maybe it will work this time!!!" XD

Totally agree with you on these 2!!!!!

  • 1. People who were due after you going before you.

    2. Being too swollen to wear the shoes you bought 3 months ago when none of your regular shoes fit.

    3. Needing a 3-man crew to roll you over at night when you need to get up to pee (which only happens 4-5 times a night).

    4. Going to your favorite masseuse to help with the pain only to be told there's really no issues they can find to help you with- you just need to have the baby.

    5. MIL continually telling you to enjoy it, because pregnancy is the best time of your life.

    6. Potentially getting to spend your birthday in the hospital bc your induction is scheduled for the day before.

    7. Swelling that has spread to your knees, so that now you know how older obese people feel trying to go up and down the stairs with knee pain. Or maybe I have become an older, obese person at this point :)

Was that enough? I could definitely go on.

  • The fact that I may have bought a father's day present a year in advance!!!!!

  • My favorite is my husbands family telling me to be patient, and that the baby is easier inside! Uh excuse me, I didn't get pregnant because I want to keep him inside me forever!!!

So absolutely true!! And ditto to all the rest!

  • Hearing "When the apple is ripe it will fall". If I hear this from one more old person I may scream.

every single person I walk by asking when the baby is due and then looking at me like I'm crazy when I say 2 more weeks and responding I don't think your gonna make it that far.

  • "I know when the due date was (6/15) and baby will come when ready... but do you have any ideas of when baby may come?"  NOOOO!  I really don't!  Stop asking me!  :p

Maternity clothes not quite fitting over the belly anymore.

Now heading into summer with HOT days that normally I enjoy... but with a baby bump furnace... not so much right now!

    "Any signs yet?"  NO!

"Baby will come when baby is ready."  Yes, I know!  But I'm ready now!  lol

The general discomforts on trying to get comfy when sitting or lying down and not sleeping at night because anytime you move there's someone pushing on your bladder so you have to get up to potty ...yet again... ugh

Any time we call someone they get excited and ask "Is it time!?!?"  ...sigh... NO!  And everyone wanting to be called while we're on the way to the hospital.  Yeah, that's what I'm going to want to do... call every relation to let them know... sigh... especially the ones that get on my nerves when I'm NOT prego and moody.
