Hi all,
I'm new to this board... I'm about 16 weeks 2 days with our first (yay!) and looking for good articles or other resources comparing various approaches to childbirth... especially if they have a bent toward encouraging natural birth
The more I read about the Bradley method, the more I like it. But I know my husband needs to be 100 percent on board, too. When I asked him if he thought I could give birth naturally, his response was - "I think you could, but I don't know why you would."
I am concerned about the drugs they give during delivery, and know there are reasons to avoid them (if you can) - and just thought some of you might know some resources that might help inform my very-rational, by-the-facts hubby.
Thank you, ladies!!
Re: Resources for a doubtful hubby?
This. My DH and I did this before I got pregnant and now he is completely against interventions and doctors.
Also try Pregnant in America (documentary)
When we finished it, my DH turned and looked at me and said, "Can we please have a water birth? Why aren't we using a midwife? Can we have the baby at home?"
He was VERY appreciative I asked him to watch it with me.
I didn't ask him to watch Pregnant in America. I personally felt as though the man in the show was VERY rude and borderline ridiculous in several of his conversations. No one needs to be THAT rude with questions.
Totally agree. I know this is what everyone suggests, but this completely worked for DH. He was a doubter before he watched this. Now he walks all over the place spouting off the benefits of natural birth. Just let him watch it and don't say anything - that way he'll feel like he figured it out on his own
Check into Hypnobabies. It's a self-hypnosis for childbirth, and for me, it was wonderful. I had a completely unmedicated birth with my son, and I'll have another with #2. It's also quite educational, and shows research about each procedure in an objective way, so you can make educated decisions about your birth.

The BOBB is very good too!
