Constipation and Morning Sickness

I had bad constipation daily before pregnancy. Now, I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and I look a few months pregnant because of the constipation.

From that and morning sickness I'm constantly feeling sick and I don't want to eat anything. I've tried crackers, lots of fluids, nuts, and mints. It seems like I'm living on those things and already sick of them.

I hate to complain about this all the time, but I need some advice. I don't have many people to talk to about this.

  • Colace is safe during pregnancy. You can also find fiber crackers that are bland.See if you can find mcvites digestive biscuits. Drink water! I hope you find relief soon. Constipation is really cruddy.

  • I bought prune juice the other weekend and just smelling it made me want to throw up. I tried, but couldn't do it.

I'll try apple juice - love that!

  • Thanks for the response. I don't have my first appt with the nurse until June 28th. I did hear colace is okay to take, but I am worried about taking it constantly...I'm sure that's not good to do.

  • High fiber oatmeal (Quaker) or the high fiber Luna bars might help a bit and I find them settling on the stomach right now.  Also, cherries are in season and my god those suckers can get your system moving :)

    Good luck!

  • I have been using Metamucil that past 2 weeks. HELPS SO MUCH!! and i bought the natural no flavor one goes down very easy.

  • (Psyllium) Root Seed is the generic for that I think. I was told to get that and I tried, but no luck for me. I'm sure it's different for everyone and hopefully will work for you. It has a lot of fiber. Drinks lots of water, so that it doesn't do a reverse affect.

  • I've been pouring boiling water over freshly grated ginger to make a sort of tea. It's been helping both problems. (The heat makes things move and the ginger soothes the nausea).
