Hospital Bag

I'm getting my bag packed for my upcoming c-section. What kinds of things are in your bag? My DD was a vaginal delivery and my DS was an emergency 24 weeker. With my DD I had stuff to help with delivery and DS there was no bag. Anything you ladies can think of that I don't need or might be nice with a c-section?

    I was a last minute c/s so I wasn't packed for this. I would have taken better clothes. I needed to have somoneone buy me high waist underwear and high waist loose pants to wear. Other than that, the hospital provided everything else I needed.

    I'm also getting ready for my second Csection in 3 weeks. This one is scheduled but my first was not, and I was not packed or prepared for it! So i'm well aware of what to pack this time! I'm packing 4 pairs of loose, wide waist band cotton capri/ gaucho pants (you wont want anything tight on your belly, like drawstring pants) & 4-5 cami tank tops with the simple built in bras, just as easy as nursing bras and you'll be comfy and put together! Bring 1 pair of cheaper slippers & a pair of flip flops for showers or walking the halls after surgery, and a cotton robe makes you feel less exposed to nurses & visiting guests. Deodorant & perfume are must have luxuries and pack your normal hair care/ style products too! I'll be bringing snacks and magazines this time (for myself & my hubby) because last time I spent 3 days in the hospital and it's something to do. If you're using a particular kind of bottle or pacifier, bring it! In my case breastfeeding was rough (and ended up being unsuccessful) due to my milk not coming in for awhile so this time i'll be bringing our Adiri & Comotomo bottles that I hope this baby will take to (these bottles are supposed to make switching from the breast to bottle much easier without confusion) And to make sleeping easier bring your own pillow and a sleeping mask, I was able to turn off the lights in my hospital room but the glow of light coming under the door was not fun, and the nurses had a tendency to awake you by flipping on the BRIGHT lights! haha So this time i'll be bring a beauty sleep mask! And the hubby may appreciate a mask and ear plugs as well. And just remember to pack this ASAP even if you're having a scheduled csection, babies come when they want to, and sometimes earlier if the doctor needs to!

    High-waisted underwear for going home... by something in your maternity size and then have a set or two at home in one size up from your normal, pre-pregnancy size. Put a pillow in your car for the ride home (or better yet, bring your usual pillow into the hospital to sleep on and then use it on the ride home); that way you have it on hand if you want to apply pressure.

     I also wish that I'd known to have colace on hand at home... and that my doctor had made it clear I could exceed the dosage on the back before I had problems. I'd recommend talking to your doctor about colace dosage if you're taking vicodin when you go home.

    I would have pack a pair of loose shoes.  My feet sweeled so muc hafter the c-section.  When walking I wanted hard sole shoes on, mine barely fit

    I had my own PJs/underwear. I have my own shampoo,etc. Slippers for walking the halls, my computer. And that was all the stuff I brought that I actually used. Oh, my mom brought me a little pillow the first day to help hold against my belly when getting up and down, sneezing, etc. That will be in the next bag (I'm hoping for a VBAC but will pack as if I might end up w/ another c/s).

    I also had my own pads and starting using them the next day. They were the long over night ones and worked great. I hated everything that the hospital had for me, I'm glad I had my own.
