TTC After a Loss

Is this even possible? (fb bfp mentioned)

I know there have been a lot of facebook rants lately, but this is less of a rant more of a confused question.

So this morning I was checking my facebook, and as so many of you all have had the pleasure of seeing I saw a pg. announcement.

It was a little girl in a chair holding a sign that said "I'm going to be a big sister in March 2013". At first I had the normal jenvious reaction, but then I remembered that, having ovulated 3 days ago, if I were to have a successful pregnancy I would be due March 5th.

So, is it even possible to know that you are pregnant if you are due in March? I guess she could be 8 dpo, but that is a little (well a LOT) early  to announce. Is she confused?

ETA: 2013, not 2012...I'm a bit slow today.

BFP #1 4/11/11 - EDD 12/23/11 - m/c at 9 weeks BFP #2 11/18/11 - EDD 7/24/11 - m/c at 5 weeks Anniversary My Ovulation Chart

Re: Is this even possible? (fb bfp mentioned)

  • Technically yes, she could know.  I would actually imagine that she is due on the cusp of Feb/Mar and probably went over with her first child, making her decide herself that the baby will be born in March.

  • March 2012 has already happened. Did you make a typo when you wrote that, and it really said March 2013, or was this an old picture popping back up because someone commented on it recently?

  • March 2012? Or 2013? Either way, yeah, that is very confusing! Unless she is counting on the baby coming late, after her EDD??

  • Hmmmmmm, did it really say March 2012 or did you mean to type 2013?  But yes, that would be too early because if I were to get a positive result this cycle my EDD would be March 6th I think.  I'm confused too! Either way, sorry you had to see it.  HUGS

  • I hope you mean March 2013... otherwise they are a little late on the announcment Wink She COULD have ovulated really early in her cycle I guess. I got my BFP when I was technically 2w 6d, which would not be possible if I ovulated when they say you should, I had to have ovulated like a whole week early. Probably a little soon to be throwing out the facebook BFP since she hasn't even missed a period yet, but hey its her life.

  • Yes, I meant 2013, I will fix that.

Their first kid was super pre-mature so that pregnancy wasn't without complication, which is why this is even more surprising to me.

Ha ha ha!  I totally correct the date in my head!

My reading skills are seriously lacking...

  • Maybe they're actually due in February and had her last period in May, got the BFP this month, then added 9 months to the BFP date because they're completely idiotic.  Since this ain't their first rodeo, they should know better, but there are a lot of really stupid people in the world.

Which adds to the theory I'm developing that all one has to do to get a baby is be a complete and utter moron or have no business having a child.  Seems to work for a lot of people.

This. Either she doesn't know how to calculate a due date or the pee is still wet on the stick. Either way, these announcements make my eyes roll because I'm so jaded. People who announce their pregancies all willy-nilly like everything will be perfect......GL to her!

  • Ugh. I almost feel sorry for her in a way. Every time I have a friend post on FB about how they just got their BFP, I cringe. I am so glad that I didn't announce. The people that knew, asked when I would and I said "I just want to see if everything is progressing the way it should." Even then, I didn't think I would announce until the A/S. Needless to say, that never happened and I am so glad I didn't announce.

A friend of mine announced her BFP on May 28th and then put a status about an ectopic on June 6th. I felt so sorry for her.

I didn't announce our BFP the first time around and didn't announce the M/C either. Everyone knew something was wrong with me and asked what was going on every single time they asked me. It was finally just easier for me to announce it so people stopped asking and just left me alone. We announced BFP and losses of #2 & #3. I don't either. My friends and family are super supportive and losses are never a taboo subject. DH & I openly talk about the struggles we have had and are having. Generally (because there's ALWAYS an exception) our friends tend to be much more grateful and aware of how blessed they are to go through healthy pregnancies and have healthy children.  I'm actually regretfully that I wasn't open about it from the get go. Although it's painful, it's not always negative to be open about it.

I've thought about this. I would like to have that kind of strength and those kinds of people in our lives.

ALL of this. Totally agree. When I saw this pic I was thinking, man, people are brave.

  • I'm thinking 2 things: 1) This girl isn't too bright. 2) She definitely is telling before the stick was even dry.

Is it possible they are doing IVF or IUI and this was their way of sort of announcing that it had happened and they are hopeful?
  • This is crazy talk.  Unless she is right around 3 weeks-which could happen, but goodness! I can see both sides but I never personally will announce until I'm further along. FX that nothing goes bad with her pregnancy.

On a different note, looks like me, you, and Quigly are all in the same boat!  I O'd two days ago as did Quigly, and you O'd three days ago!  We can be POAS buddies :-)
