Hi! My son isn't a preemie but he is in the NICU and I'm just looking for some support... Having a child in the NICU is seriously the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my whole life. I woke up in labor on Tuesday at 12:53 am.... Contractions every 2 minutes and we got to the hospital at 1:30am and he was in our arms at 2:33am. Everything was great! He was spitting up a lot and they said it was because we delivered so fast that all the amniotic fluid didn't have a chance to get squeezed out of his belly. 24 hours after he was born he started projectile vomiting bile.... They called the on call ped who recommended we be transferred to another hospital. They were thinking he had a bowel obstruction. We were transported to the other hospital and they did an upper GI series with contrast dye and he's bowels look clear. They are now treating him for a possible infection as the cause of the bile back up. Its so hard to go through all this. Seeing him in all these tubes ... He isn't allowed to eat and they are pumping out his stomach to make sure there isn't any more bile. So far it's been clean. They can't rule out a partial bowel blockage with the first test they did... So we won't know until he's allowed food again. This whole thing has been crazy..... Yesterday I kept asking myself ... Did I really have a baby yesterday. It's so hard we are an hour from home and staying at a Ronald McDonald house. Sigh... Any words of encouragement?

Re: Can I post here?
First off congratulations on the birth of your son. I'm so sorry to hear that he's in the NICU, and I hope the doctors can figure out what's wrong ASAP. I would try and get as much rest as possible, even if that means just hanging out in the NICU. Get a book to write down your thoughts and concerns. Did your MOD hand out info, books, camera, if not get yourself a camera and take pictures of your little one. I know at first it may be hard to look at those pictures, but when he's a year old you will be happy to have them. I'm assuming your pumping? I would ask to pump by his bedside, that seem to really help my production. If you have any questions, we are hear to listen.
Praying that your LO is home soon. Hugs!
