nbr - funeral question

So a friend's dad died last week.  I have never met any of her family.  I was wanting to send flowers or something, but I wasn't sure if I should just send them to her house or to the funeral home.  Honestly, her mom/brother would have NO idea who I am (not that that matters).  I just wasn't sure if there was a "protocol" or something that I shouldn't just send them to her house, since they are mostly for her.  Any thoughts?

Re: nbr - funeral question

  • does she live at home?

if not, I would send them to her house, a small something or other, with a little note saying that you are thinking about her. She'll be touched by the gesture.

  • I would send them to her house - I think it would mean more to her.  Very sweet gesture :)

  • Does she have to travel for the funeral?

If she won't be home to receive the flowers I would send them to the funeral home. If she is not traveling I would think her house!

  • You can do either one. However, if they are more for her, then send them to her house. I'm sure it will mean a lot to her that you are thinking about her.
  • It depends on the flowers. If you are sending a "thinking of you" arrangement, the house is fine. If you are sending a funeral arrangement, send them to the funeral home.

  • answers to questions if it changes anything...

    1.  She doesn't live at home

    2.  The funeral is local

    3.  I am going to the viewing and the funeral

  • I would send them to her house.. more of a chance she will see/get them and I think it will mean alot for her to get your note.

  • You could do either...If it were me I would send her an arraingment to her home now instead of waiting for the funeral. This way she knows she has some support in the time before.
