Did you start by having contractions that got closer together, did your water break, or did you have some other physical indicator that labor was beginning (upset stomach, etc).
With DD I had contractions 7-8 minutes apart from 3am onward, then lost my mp at 6am, and then my water broke at noon. With DS I was induced, but had been having contractions off and on for a couple weeks.
This time, it was my water breaking and 20min later having contractions.
With my son, I was having some mild contractions when I awoke in the morning that weren't painful, so I didn't think it was labour, even though they were 5 mins apart.

I had a contraction 2 hours prior, and then my water broke. that's when I started to have timeable contractions.

I woke up the day before she was born having menstrual like cramps that didn't go away. By the evening, I was having real contractions 8 or so minutes apart and started throwing up.
I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like my period was coming- which was funny because someone I worked with told me just that day that that's exactly how she felt when she started going into labor.
I do have to add- I don't know if that counts as the official start of my labor or not because after I woke up, I had contractions for 5 hours and then they stopped for about 8 hours before they started again, but since baby was born that day, I'd say it was the start.
My water broke unexpectedly 3 weeks early! I went to some garage sales with my sister in the morning and did a lot of walking around with some very minor cramping on left side.
Went to hospital and started Pitocin 5 hours after water broke.....
Contractions started around 2:45 AM and we're about 7-9 minutes apart, quickly progressed to 5 minutes apart and were 2 minutes apart on the way to the hospital at 5:30 AM.
