Does anybody know why this medication isn't recommended for children under 6 years old? There isn't a cough suppressent in the medication. Just a decongestant. The two active ingredients are an antihistamine (chlorpheniramine) and a nasal decongestant (phenylephrine HCI). I know toddlers aren't supposed to have a cough suppressent, but there isn't one in this medication. The reason I ask is because DD has been miserable from her allergies and my mother gave her half a dose of the orange Triaminic (1 tsp) and she sounds better and seems to be feeling better than she has in a week. My mom gave her the medicine because it was what he gave us as kids. I am not upset, since it hasn't seemed to affect DD in a bad way, I'm actually just wondering if I should continue to give it to her. It's working better than anthing else we've tried!!
Re: Orange Triaminic...
Thanks! I had done a google search, but wasn't able to find concrete info about the orange Triaminic . I remember pretty much living on this stuff as a kid, lol! It was my mom's remedy for just about any little sniffle. Which is why she didn't really think it was a big deal to give it to DD. At least she was smart and halved the dosage.
Yeah, I think I might get some actual benadryl tomorrow.
