And what plans did you not follow through with the first time around?
I had absolutely no plans on co-sleeping/bed-sharing, but did with DD1 for about 6 months. Planned on pureeing all of her food myself, but just did BLWing instead.
Any other 2nd time moms plan on something that never happened?
ETA: or 3rd, 4th, etc. mommas.
Re: 2nd time mommas: what plans did you make...
Not a 2nd time momma but thought I could answer too. :-)
I planned on breastfeeding and it didn't work out with my first, I also planned to put him in his crib from the get go. But he co slept with me for the first 4 months.

I planned on EBFing the first 6 months, but she was a preemie, my supply sucked, and I stopped pumping after 2 months when my supply tanked and I was getting 3oz total out of 5 daily pumping sessions. Not worth it. I'm hoping to try again with this one.
I planned on making all my own food for her, but she wouldn't eat it and she would eat the store bought stuff (it was organic). For the next LO I'd like to try BLW.
I planned on co-sleeping and that worked well, and I didn't plan on baby-wearing but did it anyway (no real choice since she screamed whenever we put her down for 2 seconds). Plans are to do the same with the next LO.

Well, let's see...
We moved DD to her crib at 4 weeks - and providing everything is going just as well with this LO, we will probably move LO to their crib sooner, i.e. 2 weeks. Mommy, Daddy and LO slept much better once that move was made. I have the AngelCare monitor with the heartmonitor board for under the mattress - loved using it.
I did puree foods, but then started BLW about 9 or 10 months as DD got bored. I think and hope to make 95% of her foods - i.e. start her on oatmeal that I make from steel cut oats instead buying the box cereals. We wasted money on them as DD wouldn't eat it.
I hope and pray that I can pump for the first year and BF in the mornings and at night. I made it to 10 weeks with DD but didn't havea pump to bring to work. My supply tanked quickly. I hope I can at the very least maintain a supply for pumping this time.
We'll only use sposies in the hospital. I will have a set of NB CDs ready to go when LO gets here.
Um - can't remember any. I think I was just the opposite. I didn't make any plans! I BF for 13 months. I made my own pureed food for her. I cloth diapered - but use sposies too. Oh - I did end up using the Ferber method, but she only CIO for like 25 minutes for 2 nights, so that helped.
She was in our room in her bassinet for a long time - five months before I moved her to her crib.
I said I would make all of her food..that lasted about 2 months, then we switched to jars.
I said DD wouldn't have a paci past 1, she had it until almost 3.
The Blog
I wanted to wear DD1 more, but she HATED the moby, the ergo, the sling, etc. until she was like 6 months old. Hopefully the next baby will be more into it, since it's sooooo much easier to be hands free!
Definitely stick up for yourself with pumping! It's your legal right!
I have a lot of friends whose babies were tongue tied. That has caused soooo many problems. I'm sorry you had to go through that but I'm so happy that you made it through to the other side!
We also had to switch back from cloth to disposables. She got such bad rashes in cloth and no matter what I did they wouldn't go away. I love cloth sooo much because they keep poop in so much better, they're cute, save money, and don't kill the planet... but when she's in pain when she pees, none of that is worth it!
This time around I am trying to avoid making plans. From my own experiences and from so many of my friends, soooo much of what happens with your children is completely out of your control. I find it's easier to deal when you have less expectations.
I understand that. DD1 wouldn't take a bottle at all. She didn't learn to drink from one until she was 10 months old and by that point she'd alraedy been drinking from sippy cups so what's the point.
I didn't really plan on anything since I didn't know what I was doing and I was pretty much winging it. However, there are a LOT of things I plan on doing differently this time, based on my mistakes last time. I'd list them here, but it's probably worthy of a new post, since I'm sure I'm not the only first time mom who made some.
You bring a very good point.
We didn't use a pacifier with DS. I think I may consider one with this baby. Other than that, I'm doing everything the same. I've been very happy with the process so far.
I had DS in the PNP until about 8-10w and then moved him to his own room and crib. I never bought the Angel Care monitor or Sunza and don't plan on getting one this time around either. I BF for 6 months and then switched to formula. That's my goal again (6m). I EP the last two of those months and had a great freezer stash.
If anything, I think I will be more relaxed and not stress as much. I probably won't wait the standard 3-5 days in between new foods as long as I did the first time around.
I'm not a cook, so I definitely won't be pureeing anything
I'll stay with Earth's Best Organic.
I've also been happy with Pampers Swaddlers and will keep using them if I have a boy. If it's a girl, I may switch to Huggies

I had planned to BF until at least 9 months, I had to stop at 5mos due to an injury with my neck and taking steriods & pain meds. When I got better my milk supply was next to nothing.
I had planned to CD my DD until Potty Learned and she got such bad rashes that no matter what I did to strip those things she still had rashes, so we went back to sposies.
I had planned for both LO's to co-sleep until 8 months, DS stayed till 1yr & DD still sleeps with us in the early mornings.
