So, for some reason, I feel that I need to pre-plan everything up to December so that I know it's done and ready. This is baby number 2 for us, and we've just moved into a new house this year.
So, I want DD's room painted, baby room painted (which means the spare room needs emptied... where will all that stuff go...??), basement finished (big job, I realize, but so worth it.)
It's time and money and organization.
Then I want someone lined up to watch DD when I go into labour, I want the house decorated, and gifts wrapped well in advance, and I want Christmas to be perfect for DD who is 3 as it's really the first year she "gets" Santa and all the fun etc.
*sigh*
I am aware that I can't actually make all this happen over night, but I really really wish I could :P I also know I sound crazy, as my husband reassured me that I'm nuts when I sent him the "list" this morning...

I do this, too. I have always made lists way too far in advance, but it actually helps me in the long run to really decide what are "MUSTS" and what I can do without. I also think taking longer on certain decorating projects helps because you can get good deals by not having to purchase everything at the same time. I've found if things are spaced out (even if they're done too soon-Xmas decorating for example) they don't seem so overwhelming. When you really think about how much time you have and how relatively short that list is, it makes those things seem not as stressful. I mean, you have months and the painting is a few days at most? When it's broken down it doesn't seem so daunting... and you're not crazy.
I love lists.
Yes me too!! I LOVE the holidays, and can't wait for that part. I can just imagine my poor DH attempting to decorate our tree to "perfection" with me yapping over his shoulder... no that doesn't go there. no there. THERE!!!
I'll stick to the baking and try and let him and DD manage the tree
I don't think it's irrational and I'm a total planner, too.
However, after just reading your list. I am now exhausted. I need a nap.
LOL oops. sorry to zonk you all out...
And I love lists too... it's DH who is not a fan. Especially when, in general, I'm pretty useful around the house. But with this stuff, I guess I shouldn't be painting, and I can't very well finish a basement... but I can at least decorate, and make sure he's well fed while he does the work
My H LOVES lists! He asks me to make lists for him when he has a day off (and I don't) so he can get stuff done around the house. He makes himself lists, too, for things he needs done.
We really need to do a "Baby To-Do List". I feel like we're behind. I really want to just go and get all the stuff we want for baby and have it all set up tomorrow!

He's chomping at the bit to have everything "done." Me? I'm content with my bazillion lists and timelines, and checking things off one at a time.
This came to a head last night when he wanted us to clean out my entire office to make room for the nursery furniture... that we just ordered less than one week ago... that, apparently, was flown in by superman and is ready to be picked up. 6 to 8 weeks my butt!
Oh great, I haven't even planned lists in my head yet! Now I realize I should probably start shopping for Christmas presents today!
I don't know if it's because it's my 3rd or that I'm feeling so crappy or just so busy but I am wayyyy too laid back with this one. I hadn't even thought about how this is going to affect my poor kids' Christmas. Lists need to be made NOW.
