Changing Table

DS is constantly rolling when I try to change him on the changing table so for now I have resorted to changing him on the floor. For mom's with older kids, did you just do away with the changing table after a certain point or is this just a phase?

Re: Changing Table

  • It was a phase for us. When she learned to roll over both ways, she did it 24/7 for a week or two. I had to change her on the floor. Now that she has moved on to crawling, I can change her on the table without her flipping over as soon as I lay her down.

  • I never got a changing table.  When DD was really young, we had the pack--n-play set up in the living room where I changed her.  Now I just change her in her crib.  That way I can walk away to wash my hands or get her clothes without worrying that she'll roll away.  I just keep a thick pad underneath her so she doesn't get anything on her sheets.  It's worked out fine for us and now I'm not dealing with a changing table that I'll never use.

Once she starts to pull herself up and I have to drop the mattress, I'll just change her on the floor.

  • We havent used our changing table in months.  Once DS could roll over he would never stay on his back.  We have a blanket on his bedroom floor for changing.  Changing diapers or getting dressed is such a struggle with us.  He constantly has to be moving and has better things to do or see then lay on his back and be fussed over by mom or dad!

  • I still use the changing pad on the dresser for both girls.  DD1 is a bear on the floor.  She gets up and runs away and I usually end up with a leg over her to get her changed.  When she is on the dresser she cooperates.  I don't like getting down on the ground either so I usually use the changer.

  • With my DD, I just powered through it on the changing table. But eventually I stopped using the table when she grew too long for it. Seems like my DS will out grow it about the same time he's rolling all over the place. I'm not looking forward to his really poopy diapers on the floor.

  • DS has been rolling for months and just started this on the changing table. I think he is trying to roll to hi tummy to crawl away lol! I am sure he will out grow the changing table soon since it is not the full length of the dresser. Thanks for the input.
