changes from last appointment, does this even mean anything?

I'm the one who was asking about going into labor without dilation or effacement. Thank you to those that commented on my post. I had zero dilation or effacement and was at station -3 last week. This week I'm still not dilated, 70% effaced and at -1 station. I'm thinking the reason why I'm so uncomfortable is from being at -1 station. I'm experiencing a lot of pressure and cramping. Even though all these factors don't really mean much because every body and pregnancy is so different but I'm going to ask anyway, how much longer did anyone wait to go into labor after being 70% effaced and at -1 station? Can you tell I'm getting extremely impatient?

  • It is really a crap shoot.

With both my kids I was the same dilation at the time I went into labor as I was at 36 wks. Had my kids at 38 and 39 wks.

The effacement part for me always was an indicator. The more effaced then the faster I dilated so when I was closer to 80% then I started to go another cm since the effacing part is the thinning of your cervix and that needs to happen in order for baby's head to push down and dilate you.

You could always try lots of sex ;) semen softens your cervix and a soft cervix is more favorable. Worked for us each time.

    GL I feel your pain.

  • Two weeks ago I was not dilated and baby was at -1 station. One week ago I was 2 cm, 70% effaced and baby was at -1 station. Today I was 3 cm, 75% and -1 station. So I don't know how long it will be, but I'm still pregnant! Good luck!

  • So it seems like nothing is black and white. I wonder why we even want to know this information because it doesn't mean anything. It's such a guessing game. I guess the only thing that means something to me personally is that I'm at station -1 now so that explains why I'm feeling so much discomfort.
  • My OB said that the lower baby is, the more pressure he puts on your cervix, the faster you will dilate.  That is why walking and bouncing can trigger labor, b/c the babies head is forced against your cervix.  So I think it is a good sign for you that baby is so low down.  Get walking, girlie!
