Re: *Pg with my Rainbow Check-In*

  • Im really trying to take this pg day by day, because I'm scared it could end at any time. I had a bad scare last week with some sudden & heavy bleeding and I was sure it was all over. Never had that happen in either of my previous pg.

I wish I could say I was exercising more but I'm not :( I'm usually too busy or scared. I exercised friday and then the bleeding happened that night. I'm sure they are not related but... One thing we are doing different is abstaining. We are both just too scared. I'm not sure how long it will last but for now my Dr. says to wait and honestly even if she wasn't saying it we probably wouldn't be doin it anyway!

My NT scan is tomorrow as well as our first appt. with the high risk OB. I've got a check up with a midwife Friday and then nothing til mid-July. At that point I start seeing my OB every 2 weeks. Lots of appts., this month will total 5.

  • Hello ladies my NT scan went great the baby measured right on and was moving like crazy. The nucal fold measurement was within normal range so I am happy about that!! Now we are waiting on the blood work. The baby has super long legs already like Daddy. Also the tech and the doctor made a gender guess and DH and I saw exactly what they saw and we just both know it is what they guessed. Of course it is just a guess and we will see at our a/s in July. I feel much more connected now that we kind of have an idea of what the gender is. I was so detached before.

What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings? I feel sick like i could throw up if i don't eat and I am hungry it is like morning sickness but much more intense anytime of the day. I also am craving the same exact things i did with Sydney it is funny I want chocolate and milk and potatos any form of potatos!!

How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind? I am trying I do go to the gym with DH he goes 5 to 6 times a week i go at least 2 to 3. I am afraid to push myself in fear I will lose this baby too.

Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things? I will be able to go to my MFM any time I want. He told me that if between appts I can come in and just get  a check on the baby. He also said in my 3rd tri I can come in everyday if i want to check on the baby he doesn't want me stressed if he can help it. Have I told you that I love him so much!!! He told me he will get us through this and get us a take home baby.

  • What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings? Most of my symptoms now are related to 3rd tri/near the end...achy, sore, restless, ect.  I have been having some nausea again in the evenings (then again, it never really went away).  I don't have any particular cravings...they come and go.  Then again, I kinda just lied.  I've been craving beer -- not for the alcohol, literally for the taste, lol.  That'll just have to wait.

How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind? Mind - blogging.  It's my outlet.  Body -- I still try to eat on the healthy side and incorporate my protein and fruits....but I'm a carb girl.  I didn't "exercise" this pregnancy because it was never really an option with the cerclage and then the braxton hicks so early on.  I would go for a walk with DH a couple times a week though.

Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things? Everything was different this time around.  Even though I couldn't have changed the outcome of the last pregnancy, you can't help but want to do things differently in hopes it will really make a difference.  I had biweekly appointments once I had the cerclage placed.  They kept a close eye on my cervix to make sure there wasn't any shortening or funneling.

Open Topic: Lately the whole FTM and STM (first time mom, second time mom) thing really bothers me.  It's as if I dont' fit in either category.  Of course, I will respond to topics when applicable...like if a post says STM but is referring to pregnancy then I'm eligible to answer...but when it comes to actually having a newborn at home (not the NICU) and caring for her in a "normal" way I guess I'm a FTM?!  With that being said....my induction to motherhood was first to a NICU baby followed by a mother to a dead baby.  I've only ever mothered a baby that was never fully mine (or never fully in my care/arms I guess I should say).  I am downright terrified for this baby girl to be here.  I question my abilities to mother a living child...if that makes sense.

  • What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings?  Right now I don't have too many symptoms, which is wonderful.  At this point last pregnancy I had started the swelling already and my back was aching, I also had carpal tunnel in my hands already.  So I feel really good.  I do get cravings, they're kind of all over the place... but often mac 'n cheese or desserts.

How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind? Mind- I blog, I try to talk out my fears/anxiety with DH so I'm not holding it all in.  Body- I am going to prenatal yoga once a week and I take the dog on a walk every day.  I'm not overdoing it exercise-wise due to paranoia like everyone else.

Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things?  Yes! Lots of things different, I had pre-e last time, so some different things are to at least feel like I'm helping prevent that (even though there is no prevention) and some things are just to watch me closer.  I'm seeing two doctors, OB and MFM and seeing them very often.  At this point we've started doing growth scans every 4 weeks as well as other additional testing/lab work.  I'm taking low dose aspirin and seeing an acupuncturist as well.

Open Topic: If you're reading these because your TTCAL or thinking about it, I won't lie to you, it's very hard.  I have breakdown days where I feel guilty because I'm so scared... I feel like I should have started setting the nursery back up by now but I'm not yet.  I will also tell you though that every single kick from him makes me swoon... I'm in this weird place where I'm both more detached from the pregnancy but also so much more attached.  I know that every single day I have with him is a blessing.  It's just a roller coaster of emotions.

What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings?  I am in the 13th week right now and am starting to feel a little better, but the cravings are skyrocketing.  And typically it's for carbs and foods I could probably do without.

How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind? I really need to work at this more because I haven't been doing much in either respect.  I have been trying to stay busy and am just trying to keep my anxiety in check while I count down the days.  I am trying to take more walks in the evening, but haven't been doing a great job at that either.

Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things?  I started taking a high dosage of folic acid when TTC and have also been taking prenatals since then.  I have a few extra high level u/s planned as well.  Unfortunately we lost Annabelle to a condition that hasn't been studied very much and there is little we can do preventative wise to change the outcome.  Fortunately our chances of having a similar issue is as low as anyone else's.

  • First time Checking in...

Found out on Monday that we are expecting again.  I figure I'm due somewhere around February 20th. We're scared and excited all at the same time.  I know the babies start developing kidneys around weeks 5 and 6...  So this is a critical few weeks.  We're simoultaneiously excited and scared and nervous and anxious.

SYMPTOMS:  I have cramping and sore bewbies, but thats about it for now. Thats actually more than I had with my other pregnancies.

STAYING HEALTHY:  I've changed my diet dramatically.  Weather permitting I will continue to rollerblade and walk.  But I don't want to do too much until I find out from my Doctor if I'm considered High Risk or not.

DIFFERENCES:  I don't know yet, I'll be talking to my doctor on tuesday to find out if I'll require more appointments or not. I know I'll have extra u/s appointments to check on kidneys and function but other than that I'm not sure...

  •  First off, to NuttyCoconut and Heatherhah, how did your NT Scans go this week? I had my 6 week ultrasound on Wednesday and we are having twins again! I saw their little hearts beating and I am so grateful and thrilled!  Questions for this week:What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings? Just bloated. My tummy is huge (in my opinion) so I'm already trying to hide it in my maternity pants and flowy shirts. My coworkers are already talking and the pizza man congratulated me, lol. Also a bit of nausea but not too bad yet. As for cravings-carbs as usual! I've been loving pasta and cereal but I'm trying to sneak some fruit and veggies in. How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind? Hmm well I've been napping a lot, does that count? I'm so exhausted after teaching all day. 5 more days of school and I will have no excuses so I promise to start walking more.  I have an ultrasound next week and another the week after so those help ease my mind. Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things? I'm taking the summer off to relax rather than teaching summer school. I'm getting a trans-abdominal cerclage (TAC) next month to hold these babies in. I'm seeing the best high risk dr in the area as my ob. He has had patients with TACs before, and was very comfortable with me having twins again as long as I had a TAC. I'm just praying that all of this is enough to help make our dream come true... Open Topic: how are you handling telling people? I'm sure we all feel nervous after our losses but at the same time, I waited until 13 weeks last time and look what happened! I go back and forth between wanting to tell now and have support in case of miscarriage and wanting to wait until they are born!

  • Congrats to the "newbies" joining this week! Also, I hope everyone's week is going well with appointments/US, MS and all that comes with PGAL.

What are some of your Pg symptoms/cravings?  I haven't had too many cravings- mostly for lobster and sweets.  I am feeling pretty good right now, the transition to the 2nd tri has been pretty smooth.

How are you staying healthy while Pg? Body and mind?  I go to the gyn 2 times a week with a friend, and also swim quite a bit.  I've been taking it easier though recently since I don't want to push it.

Are you doing anything different this time around? Any extra appts booked to keep an eye on things?  I am seeing my OB and MFM frequently- I actually was feeling like I lived at the dr. a bit earlier this month.  I am so glad that our MFM drama resolved in a good way.

Someone asked about telling people?  We have told only immediate family and very close friends at this point.  I haven't really wanted to tell other people, mostly because I cannot handle the SQUEE (which is know is my problem, not theirs), but pretty soon it will be too noticeable not to mention- I say go with your gut on this one, if you feel like telling people- go for it! If not, it's your news to tell when you are ready.  At the beginning of this, I swore I would tell people only after delivery. ;)
