How did you all get things done around the house when your little one was very little? I can't clean with a front carry, and she is in my arms almost all the time... Ideas until I can back carry are appreciated!
I made do with a front carry but I know some women who have worn their babies with a wrap as early as a couple weeks old. I don't know the same of the style of wrapping but it makes baby's head really high almost over your shoulder--baby is like in an angle and very secured.
I have a moby. I just started using it today to make an attempt at getting things done. My little guy is 19 days old and it wasn't an issue. The moby lets me keep him high and close. So I can bend over with his head still being supported.
I have a moby, a light woven, a mei tai and am borrowing a ring sling... I just can't manouver with having her in front to get stuff done around the house!
There are some things I can get done with a baby on and some things I can't. I try to plan ahead for these things. I also feel pretty strongly that I want my babies to be able to nap alone, because I need the space. So I spend some time helping them practice that. There are days when it doesn't work, but I keep trying.
Some examples:
I can't load/unload the dishwasher while wearing a baby, but I can bring all the dishes over by the sink and rinse them so they're ready. I can also wipe counters and put away leftover food. So I do all these things before a nap (usually while baby is falling asleep) and then as soon as I put them down for the nap I quickly go deal with the dishwasher.
Laundry is the opposite. I find it difficult to load/unload clothes while wearing a baby, but I can fold and put away (until they get to the grabby stage...). So I make sure to run the laundry through during a nap, bedtime or when my husband is home. Then I have a pile I can work on folding when wearing baby.
My husband helped with a LOT. I was able to do quite a few things with a front carry as long as I didn't need to bend over much. I could vacuum, do dishes, do some dinner prep work (just no actual cooking), load the laundry, fold laundry, etc. Mostly it was the dishwasher, toilets and litter boxes that got relegated to DH.

My Blog: Naturally Mindful
I did manage to do a lot with him in the mei tai. It was very similar to navigating the giant pg belly.
I also did odds and ends when he was napping, and I made some use of a swing and bouncy seat. Then I lowered my standards and we were fine.
