Champaign IL OB GYN's?

Hi Ladies!

I don't post very often but wanted to seek out your thoughts on this topic.  My DH is interviewing for a job in Champaign IL which is 3 hours away from my current doctor.  Which means we may be moving mid pregnancy and I may have to switch doctors.  I love my current doctor!

So my question goes out to any of you who may live in or near the champaign area.  Do you have any suggestions on OB GYN's , midwifes or your preferred prenatal care provider.  I am wanting to get a head start on preparing just in case I have to do the switch.  ANY suggestions are welcome!  I feel completely clueless!

Thanks Ladies!

  • Fellow Lurker;

    I use to work for an OB/GYN in Champaign. Christie Clinic has at least two midwives and they are great. It has been a couple of years since I have been there but from what I hear there are still two. Cathy Hinton is great. See if you can meet her.

    There are two hospitals you can choose to deliver at as well. They will go over all that with you.

     Hope that helps!

  • I also recommend Christie Clinic. I have Dr. Millie Nelson and she is absolutely the best ob I've ever had. She was recommended by several friends.

     Cathy is still there. i've only met her once but she is the midwife for one of my friends.

  • Thanks Ladies for the feed back!  I was really hoping I could find a few people from Champaign to give me some advice!  Do you know much about their labor and delivery facilities?  We had such a great experience with DD that I am so nervous about switching dr's and hospitals.

  • My OB is Sarah Young at Christie Clinic in Champaign.  I absolutely love her!  I have seen Cathy Hinton, who is a midwife and great too.  Good luck!

    Omg this is so weird because I have never seen anyone on here this close to me. Cathy Hinton is great! I am delivering at Provena and it has a really nice birthing center.

  • You ladies have been amazingly helpful!  Can I ask you a few more questions?  Do you know of any amazing pediatricians and chiropractors in that area? :)  I did not realize how many things I would have to switch when moving from the QC area to Champaign. Thanks!

    I think that Christie Clinic has pediatricians there too. I am not sure but I think they do. As of chiropractors, I need one too so if anyone has a good one let me know!

    I'm hoping to bump an old thread here. I am also lookin for an ob/gyn in the Champaign, Illinois area. I have heard great things about Dr Nelson and know that she moved to Vita in Decatur, which would be fine except my MIL works there. Not to sound terrible, but I really want this experience to be with my husband and feel I will lose some of that if we go that route. I haven't totally ruled it out yet, but would like to know why she is so great or other recommendations for a great Dr in the Champaign area? Thanks!

  • We are using Dr. Shephard at Carle. Good luck!
