amber teething necklace?

A friend on Facebook just got her daughter an amber teething necklace. The amber is supposed to ease teething pain.

Has anyone tried this?? Does it work?? I've never even heard of this until today when my friend posted a picture of her daughter wearing the necklace.

    I looked into them a while back but never pulled the trigger. Now I just use Ibuprofen and Little Teether's teething gel. I've heard good things though...

    DS has worn one since about 3 months. I wear an amber strand around my waist for back pain, which I think really makes a difference.

    Yes, when Baltic amber is warmed by heat from your body, it releases something that is said to relieve pain.
    I've never had any Baltic amber (beware of fakes!), but I really believe in holistic and natural remedies.

    I would put out money for it.

    My sis has tried these amber teething necklaces for her twins when they were teething. She strictly refused to treat them with medicine and I think she was right. She got amber teething necklace and was happy about the effect - the babies became calm, the result was stuninng.

    There has been concerns recently about whether it is safe to use amber teething necklaces, because of choking hazard, however, I wouldn't give up the idea of putting in on the baby. If the necklace is well made, it will not cause any danger to the child, however, you should still keep and eye on your child all the time.
